Skoda Kushaq facelift to get updated styling and connected tail-lamps Level 2 ADAS expected to enhance safety and tech in the cabin India launch likely by late 2025 with no major engine changes initially
Skoda is preparing a major refresh for the Kushaq, its mid-size SUV that first launched in India in 2021. With competitors like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos already updated, Skoda is now readying the Kushaq for a facelift expected to arrive in late 2025 or early 2026.
Here's everything we know so far about the upcoming model.

The facelifted Kushaq will bring some notable design tweaks, especially at the front. Expect slightly reshaped headlights and repositioned fog lamps that sit lower than before. The grille also appears to feature slimmer vertical slats. A covered section at the top hints at the possibility of a connected LED daytime running light strip, taking cues from newer Skoda models like the Kodiaq. The front bumper looks more squared-off now, giving the SUV a bolder look.

Along the side, the changes are subtle. However, new blacked-out alloy wheels will help set the facelift apart from the outgoing version. The rear end is where the updates are more prominent. The Kushaq facelift will likely get slimmer tail lamps connected by a protruding central strip, which could be an LED light bar. The rear bumper is camouflaged, but minor styling updates are expected here too.
Although the cabin hasn’t been revealed yet, the facelift is expected to offer updated trim materials, new colour choices, and a longer list of features.
A major upgrade will be the introduction of Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). This will align the Kushaq with rivals like the Seltos, Creta, Astor, and Elevate, all of which now offer similar safety tech.
Mechanically, the facelifted Kushaq will continue with its current engine options. This includes the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 115hp and 178Nm, and the 1.5-litre turbo petrol making 150hp and 250Nm. These engines will be paired with the same gearbox choices as before — a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter for the 1.0-litre, and a 7-speed DSG for the 1.5-litre.
One of the bigger mechanical upgrades will come later — not at launch. Skoda is expected to introduce a new 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox for the 1.0-litre TSI engine. This new transmission will replace the current 6-speed unit and is expected to offer better fuel efficiency while helping the brand meet CAFE III emission norms. However, this gearbox update will be introduced only in 2026.
Skoda Kushaq facelift is likely to arrive in India towards the end of 2025 or early 2026. With its updated design, new features, and safety tech, the facelift aims to make the Kushaq a stronger contender in the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment.
Alongside updates to the Kushaq, Skoda is working on a new variant of the Kylaq to expand its options in the sub-compact SUV space. Though details are limited, it’s possible that a CNG version is being considered.
Ashish Gupta, Skoda India’s Brand Director, mentioned that the new variant could be launched by late 2025 or early 2026 and will be positioned as a more affordable option. Currently, the Kylaq only offers a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, while rivals like Maruti, Tata, and Kia provide multiple powertrain choices. With CNG growing in demand, Skoda may soon follow suit—although nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
