Czech automaker Skoda is set to launch a range of new cars in the Indian market in the next couple of years. The company will bring back the Octavia and Superb sedans in the country as CBU models. Local assembly of the new Skoda Octavia is also under consideration. Not just sedans, Skoda will also introduce a new electric SUV - most likely the Enyaq iV.
Skoda will introduce the next generation Kodiaq SUV in the Indian market in 2025. Adding to it, the Czech brand will enter the sub-4 meter SUV category before the end of this financial year. Few media reports claim that Skoda is also considering Elroq small electric SUV for the Indian market.
Likely to be unveiled at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show, the new Skoda compact SUV will be the brand's smallest SUV in India. It is basically a smaller version of the Kushaq SUV and will rival the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV 3XO.
It will be based on the MQB AO IN platform that underpins the Kushaq and Slavia. However, the platform will be modified for a shorter wheelbase SUV. Design details are yet to be revealed, but spy shots suggest that the small SUV will carry Skoda's familiar design. It will have Skoda's signature grille, split headlamp setup, a roof mounted spoiler with integrated brake light and wraparound LED taillamps.
The new Skoda compact SUV is likely to share the interior layout with the Kushaq. In terms of features, the SUV could get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a new semi-digital instrument console, automatic AC, reverse camera and more. It will be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo petrol engine that produces 115bhp and 178Nm of torque. Transmission choices could include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
The second-generation Skoda Kodiaq is reportedly to be launched in our market in the second half of 2025. The new SUV will come as a CKD (Completely-Knocked-Down) unit. The new model will be powered by the same 2.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 190PS and 320Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The global-spec new Kodiaq is equipped with a 13-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment, a 10.25-inch digital instrument console, a heads-up display, electrically adjustable front seats, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging and ambient lighting. For safety and security, the SUV gets up to nine airbags, ESC, a 360-degree camera and advanced driver assistance systems.
