Tata Motors is expanding its green mobility lineup with a new CNG variant of the upcoming Curvv SUV. The Tata Curvv CNG, recently spotted testing in Pune, is expected to be priced around Rs 1 lakh more than its petrol version.

A camouflaged test mule of the Tata Curvv CNG was seen undergoing road tests in Pune. Interestingly, the test car wasn’t fitted with any emission testing equipment, indicating that Tata might be performing internal or on-road testing of its components.
Although wrapped in heavy camouflage, the test vehicle largely looked similar to the standard version. Minor design changes, like revised aero inserts on the 18-inch alloy wheels and an iCNG badge on the tailgate, could help distinguish the CNG variant.
Inside, the Curvv CNG test car looked nearly identical to the standard model. Tata is likely to retain all the features, including the infotainment system, climate controls, and upholstery. However, the instrument cluster could be updated to show CNG-related information such as tank levels and mode indicators.
Overall, the Curvv CNG is expected to offer the same feature-rich experience as the petrol and diesel variants, without any major compromises.
Under the bonnet, the Curvv CNG is likely to get Tata’s tried-and-tested 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, mated to a factory-fitted dual-cylinder CNG system. This setup is similar to what we’ve seen on the Tata Nexon iCNG, offering better efficiency and optimal boot space usage.
The Curvv CNG will join the brand’s expanding powertrain lineup, which already includes petrol, diesel, and electric options.
Tata Motors is currently focusing on launching the Altroz facelift and the highly anticipated Harrier EV. As a result, the Curvv CNG is expected to debut later this year, likely during the festive season.
In terms of pricing, the CNG model is expected to carry a premium of around Rs 1 lakh over the petrol variant. This puts it in line to compete with other CNG-powered SUVs like the Maruti Grand Vitara CNG and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder CNG.
