Tata Sierra EV launch during festive season, before Diwali 2025 Sierra ICE launch pushed to early next year ICE model to rival Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos Sierra EV to come as a lifestyle electric vehicle
First debuted in 2020 as a 3-door concept, the Tata Sierra has been one of the most-awaited SUVs in India. The company had showcased the closer to production model at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. Tata Motors has recently showcased the final production Sierra to investors and dealers. At the event itself, Tata Motors officially confirmed that the Sierra EV will arrive first during festive season, before Diwali 2025. A possible launch in October 2025 can’t be ignored.
This leaves us with a question around the launch of the ICE-powered (Petrol and Diesel) Sierra. It is expected that the Tata Sierra ICE version will be launched in the country in the first quarter of 2026, by March. Both ICE and EV versions are doing their final round of testing, and have been spotted across different cities in India.
The electric version of the Tata Sierra lifestyle SUV will be designed on the brand’s new Acti.ev+ platform, which is the upgraded version of the Acti.ev platform. The Punch EV and Curvv EV are based on this electric architecture.
Battery pack and range details are yet to be revealed, but we expect the new model to share the powertrain with Harrier EV. The Sierra EV could get the 65kWh and 75kWh LFP battery packs; both offered with the Tata Harrier EV.
The 65kWh battery version is available with a rear-axle-mounted electric motor, while the 75kWh battery is available with both RWD and dual-motor AWD set-up. It is expected that the Sierra EV will be a front-wheel-drive electric SUV with dual-motor set-up reserved for the top-end variant. The electric SUV is expected to offer a realistic range of around 450-500km on a single charge.

The ICE powered Tata Sierra will look largely identical to its EV-counterpart, except for the few changes. It is likely to get a slightly smaller alloys and functional air dams. The SUV will measure around 4.3 meters in length, which is similar to that of other midsize SUVs including, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Grand Vitara.
The new Sierra will mark the debut of Tata’s new 1.5L petrol engine. The new engine is reportedly to be offered in both naturally-aspirated and turbo form. Initially, the SUV will arrive with a 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine.
The turbocharged petrol engine will arrive at a later stage. The new 1.5L turbo petrol engine is capable of producing 170hp and 280Nm of torque. Transmission choices could include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The diesel model is likely to get the 2.0-litre Kryotech engine that produces 170hp and 350Nm of torque.
