The festive season fever is very much visible in the Indian auto industry, as we have witnessed several major announcements and launches in past 30 days. In the past month, several special editions, and new products were launched in our market. Few of the key products including new Kia Carnival, EV9, new Mercedes E-Class LWB and Magnite facelift were launched this month. Moreover, some of the key details of the upcoming important cars including Dzire and Kylaq are also revealed.
Maruti Suzuki has officially announced that the new-gen Dzire will be launched in the country on November 11, 2024. The sedan will be powered by a new 1.2L 3-cylinder NA petrol engine with manual and AMT gearbox. It will be the first model in the sub-4 meter sedan category to offer a single electric sunroof. VW has expanded the Taigun and Virtus model lineup with new Highline Plus variants. The Taigun Highline Plus is available with manual and automatic gearboxes, priced at Rs 14.27 lakh and Rs 15.37 lakh, respectively. On the other hand, the Virtus Highline Plus variant is offered with two-pedal and three-pedal transmission options, priced at Rs 13.88 lakh and Rs 14.98 lakh, respectively. Read more
Skoda has officially announced that the Kylaq compact SUV will make global debut on November 6, 2024. Set to rival the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO and others, the new Skoda Kylaq will be powered by a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine with manual and 7DCT. It will also come equipped with 25 active and passive safety features. More details here
The long-awaited Dacia Bigster has finally made its global debut in production avatar. The SUV will arrive in our market as a 7-seater SUV and will be sold under Renault nameplate. It measures 4.57 meters in length and based on the CMF-B modular platform, which also underpins the India-bound new Duster. Full report here
Mahindra is preparing to launch 4 new electric SUVs including the BE.05, XUV 3XO EV, XUV.e8 and XUV.e9. If reports are to be believed, the BE.05 launch could happen before the XUV.e8 and XUV.e9. It was originally planned to be launched towards the end of 2025. Details Inside
In order to improve sales, Jeep has introduced the 2025 Meridian facelift in the country. This time around, the SUV is offered in both 5 and 7-seat layout with former having bench-type seats in the second-row. The SUV is priced between Rs 24.99 lakh and Rs 36.49 lakh. Read more
Car manufacturers introduced several special or limited editions of popular cars in India in the past one month. While Tata re-introduced the Punch Camo edition, Maruti Suzuki introduced several special editions including Grand Vitara Dominion, Baleno Regal, etc. Toyota and Mahindra has also launched special editions of their popular models. Under the Bharat NCAP or New Car Assessment Program, a total of 3 new utility vehicles were crash tested in October 2024. While Citroen Basalt received 4 star safety rating, Tata Curvv and updated Nexon scored full 5 star safety rating.
MG Motor India and Mahindra started delivering the new Windsor EV and Thar Roxx, respectively, to customers. For people not in the know, the Windsor electric received over 15,000 orders on the first day of its launch. The new-gen Mercedes E-Class Long-Wheelbase or LWB has been launched in the Indian market. The luxury sedan is priced between Rs 78.5 lakh and Rs 92.5 lakh. The new model is longer and taller than the previous model. In fact, the wheelbase has been increased to create more space inside.
Kia is preparing multiple mass market electric vehicles for the Indian market. The company has started testing the Sonet-sized electric SUV, which is expected to be launched in our market in 2025-26.
BYD introduced the eMAX 7 electric MPV at an introductory price of Rs 26.90 lakh. It is basically the facelifted version of the BYD e6. This time around, the MPV is available in 3-row seating layout.
Japanese automaker Nissan has officially announced to launch 3 new SUVs including the new Duster based mid-sized SUV, a 7-seater SUV and an all-electric SUV in India by 2026-27. The ICE models will be based on Renault-Nissan alliance's CMF-B modular platform.
Nissan finally introduced the Magnite facelift in the country at an introductory price of Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The introductory price is valid for the first 10,000 deliveries. More details here
Kia launches the new-gen Carnival and EV9 electric SUV in the Indian market. While the new-gen Carnival is priced at Rs 63.90 lakh, the 3-row Kia EV9 is priced at Rs 1.30 crore (ex-showroom). The new EV9 is the brand's flagship model. On the other hand, the Carnival sits right between the Innova Hycross and Toyota Vellfire.
Hyundai has started testing the next-gen Venue sub-4 meter SUV, which is scheduled to be launched in the country by late 2025. It will be the first model to be manufactured at Hyundai's new Talegaon factory, which Hyundai acquired from General Motors.
