The Carens facelift might come with significant design chagnes and feature upgrades. The new Maruti 7-seater SUV with ADAS is expected to arrive 2025 festive season. The Alcazar might also receive a midlife update. Mahindra will introduce the updated XUV700 with new tech and premium features in 2025.
Seven-seater family cars (MPVs and SUVs) are quite popular in the Indian market due to their versatility, spacious cabins, and efficiency. Currently, there are limited options available in this segment under Rs 20 lakh. However, the lineup is set to expand with several OEMs have planned new 7-seater MPVs and SUVs for the coming years. Here’s a look at the upcoming 7-seater MPVs and SUV, which will be priced under Rs 20 lakh.

The updated Kia Carens is likely to arrive by August 2025, featuring major cosmetic changes and feature upgrades. This three-row MPV is likely to derive some design elements from the Kia EV5, as suggested by spy images. The facelifted Carens will receive new triangular-shaped headlamps with starmap LED elements, blacked-out pillars, body cladding and door handles, new alloys, updated taillamps and rear bumper.
The interior of the new 2025 Kia Carens facelift could be upgraded with Syros’ sourced Trinity panoramic display along with features such as a panoramic sunroof, ADAS suite and a 360 degree camera. No mechanical changes are expected. The updated Carens will feature the sale 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel engines.
Nissan India will introduce an affordable MPV based on the Renault Triber. Similar to its donor model, it will be based on the heavily-localized CMF-A+ platform. Besides architecture, the new Nissan 7-seater MPV will share its powertrain with the Triber, which comes with the 1.0L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine and two gearbox options – manual and AMT. The petrol motor pushes out a maximum power of 71bhp and 96Nm of torque. However, the design language of the new Nissan MPV will be different from the Triber. It’s expected to derive some design bit from the Magnite.
Renault’s Triber will receive a major midlife update this year or next. This compact MPV is expected to come with slightly improved styling and upgraded interior. However, the exact details are not available as of now. The new Renault Triber is likely to retain the existing 1.0L, 3-cylinder petrol engine, which returns a claimed power of 72bhp and 96Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox.
Maruti Suzuki will foray into the entry-level MPV segment with a new model based on the Spacia, which is sold in the Japanese market. Codenamed YDB, this new MPV is likely to different styling than the Japan-spec Spacia. In fact, its overall length will also be increased from 3,395mm. It is likely to come with three-row seating configuration instead the two rows of seats. Unlike the Japan-sec model, the Maruti YDB will miss out on the sliding doors and a few fancy features. Under the hood, it might feature a 1.2L Z-Series petrol engine, borrowed from the Swift hatchback. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.

The Indo-Japanese automaker is ready to bring in the 7-seater version of the Grand Vitara midsize SUV. This new model will carry a new nameplate with three-row seating layout and new features. Compared to the Grand Vitara, the new Maruti 7-seater SUV will be longer. It is expected to be offered with the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite. Minimal changes could also be made on its exterior such as the revised front and rear bumpers, new headlamps and taillamps and redesigned alloy wheels. The new Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater SUV will continue to use the 1.5L K15C petrol mild hybrid and 1.5L, Atkinson strong hybrid powertrains.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has also planned to introduce the 7-seater version of the Hyryder SUV in late 2025. A few changes are likely to be made to its design including the redesigned bumpers, headlamps and taillamps along with the new set of alloy wheels. Inside, the new Toyota 7-seater SUV might get better material quality, and more features than the Hyryder. Rumour has it that Toyota might equip its new premium SUV with ADAS suite as well. Similar to the 5-seater Hyryder, it will come with the 1.5L K15C petrol mild hybrid and 1.5L Atkison cycle petrol engine with an electric motor setup option.
Hyundai Motor India introduced the updated Alcazar SUV in 2024 with improved rear seat comfort, new design, more features and ADAS. Minimal changes have also been made to its dimensions. This three-row SUV is expected to receive yet another midlife update sometime next year. Details of the new Hyundai Alcazar facelift are not available at this point. However, it’s likely to come with the same 1.5L turbo diesel and 1.5L turbo petrol engines. Transmissions will also be carried forward from the current model.
The Mahindra XUV700 facelift launch is also due for this year. This seven-seater SUV is expected to share several features and design elements with the XEV 9e born-electric SUV. The updated XUV700 could be offered with the augmented reality based HUD, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a triple screen setup and more. As far as the engine is concerned, the new Mahindra XUV700 is expected to come with the existing 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L diesel engines and two gearbox options – a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. Mahindra has also planned an electric version of the XUV700 – Mahindra XEV 7e – which is slated to debut in late 2025.
