In the ongoing financial year (FY2025-26), Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are gearing up to introduce several new cars in the Indian market. These launches will include all-new electric SUVs, mid-size petrol models, and rebadged versions under their strategic partnership.
Here is the list of upcoming Maruti and Toyota cars:
Maruti Suzuki will enter the electric vehicle space with the launch of the e-Vitara by September 2025. This all-electric SUV will be the company’s first EV, produced in Gujarat and exported to over 100 countries. The e-Vitara will come with two battery options—49kWh and 61kWh—offering a driving range of up to 500km. Initially, it will be available with front-wheel-drive only. Some dealers have already begun taking unofficial bookings.
Another upcoming product is the Maruti Escudo, codenamed Y17. Based on the Grand Vitara’s platform, the Escudo will be positioned between the Brezza and Grand Vitara. It will be sold via Arena dealerships and will compete with SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The Escudo is expected to be longer than the Grand Vitara, offering more cargo space. Maruti is likely to equip it with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a mild hybrid system.
Toyota will launch the Urban Cruiser EV, a rebadged version of the Maruti e-Vitara, in the second half of 2025. Like its Maruti counterpart, it will offer two battery options and be produced at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant. This compact 5-seater electric SUV will be Toyota’s next big step in the electric segment.
Toyota is also expected to introduce its own version of the Maruti Escudo. Built on Suzuki’s Global C platform, the Toyota SUV will sit between the Taisor and Hyryder in the brand’s lineup. It is likely to share the same engine and platform as the Escudo and could launch around the Diwali festive season.
