2 New Toyota Hybrid SUVs Coming in 2026 - What to Expect?

Toyota has big investment and expansion plans. 7-seater Hyryder and Hyryder facelift launch by 2026-27.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor is all set to expand its product lineup across multiple segments with a range of powertrain options. The Japanese automaker also aims to strengthen its position in India with an investment of over USD 3 billion, which includes setting up two new manufacturing facilities in Maharashtra and Bengaluru. Meanwhile, Toyota is gearing up to launch two strong hybrid SUVs - the 7-seater Hyryder and the Hyryder facelift in 2026-27 timeframe.  


Toyota Hyryder Facelift


Toyota’s typical follows a facelift or midlife update cycle repeats of 3-5 years. Since the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder was first introduced in 2022 and is nearing 4 years in the market, its facelift is expected by late 2026 or early 2027. The updated version is expected to receive stable design changes and a few feature upgrades, while retaining the existing mild hybrid petrol and strong hybrid powertrain options.


7-Seater Toyota Hyryder


The three-row Toyota Hyryder has entered in its testing phase, and is expected to launch later this year. Recent spy images reveal that the SUV will feature redesigned LED taillamps and an extended rear section for accommodating an extra row of seats. The test mule was also spotted with the rear axle shafts hinting at the inclusion of the AllGrip (AWD) drivetrain system. However, the overall design and styling are expected to remain largely unchanged.


Mechanically, the 7-seater Toyota Hyryder will be exactly to be identical to its 5-seater sibling. This means, the SUV will feature a 1.5L TNGA Atkinson Cycle and a 1.5L K15C mild hybrid petrol engine, delivering a maximum power 114bhp and 103bhp with 137Nm of torque, respectively. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed torque convertor automatic and a single-speed eCVT (available only in hybrid variants).


While official specifications are yet to be revealed, the 7-seater Hyryder is expected to offer fuel efficiency figures similar to its younger sibling, which offers a impressive mileage of around 27-28kmpl.
