Hyundai i20 and Creta to enter new generation Palisade hybrid and new Ni1i 7-seater SUVs with hybrid tech Compact electric SUV, MPV and off-roader SUV for India
Hyundai Motor India is getting aggressive with its product strategy to regain its lost market share in the country. Following its massive IPO and the acquisition of the Talegaon facility, the Korean brand is preparing to introduce 8 new cars and SUVs in the Indian market. The 8 new models are designed to capture every segment from the entry-level EV to the ultra-luxury SUV buyers.
The third-generation Creta is set to arrive in our market by the end of 2026 or early 2027. Based on the new sophisticated K3 platform, the new Hyundai Creta will carry a boxy, “Mini-Palisade” stance, featuring 19-inch alloys and a “Zero-Gravity” cabin. The big update will come in the form of hybrid powertrain, which will be based on the 1.5L NA petrol engine.
Accompanying the new Creta is the next-gen i20, which is expected to be launched in the country in 2027. The new model is expected to debut a strong hybrid powertrain for the first time. It will be based on the new platform that underpins the new Venue compact SUV. The hatch is likely to get a 1.2L turbo petrol engine, which is claimed to be hybrid-ready.

Hyundai will introduce a new crossover, called the Bayon, which will finally fill the gap between the Exter and the Creta. The new-gen model will be introduced in a sub-4 meter space, but the global-spec model will measure above 4 meters. It will be based on the new Venue’s platform, and is expected to get a 1.2L turbo petrol engine with a hybrid tech. Additionally, a new 7-seater MPV is under development to challenge the likes of the Kia Carens Clavis and Maruti Ertiga. It is likely to be based on the same architecture that underpins Clavis.
Hyundai will also enter the off-road SUV segment with an all-new model. This rugged, high-clearance SUV is rumored to be a body-on-frame or a heavily reinforced unibody vehicle designed to challenge the Mahindra Thar and Maruti Jimny.

Hyundai has confirmed that the Palisade hybrid SUV is heading to India by 2028. The 8-seater SUV is expected to feature Hyundai’s new-generation 2.5-litre turbo-petrol hybrid powertrain. Adding to it, the company is also developing a new 7-seater SUV, codenamed Hyundai Ni1i, which will take on the likes of the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari. While the Tucson in international markets comes with a 1.6L petrol hybrid engine, the India-spec Hyundai Ni1i is likely to get a new 1.5L strong hybrid engine.
Hyundai’s mass-market electrification will be led by an all-new compact electric SUV that has already been spotted testing in India. Likely to be based on the global Inster, the new compact electric SUV is targeting a price around Rs 12-16 lakh, and a 400km range.
