Honda Prelude could launch in India soon. Hybrid powertrain with S+ Shift tech. Expected price around Rs 75 lakh.
Honda is planning a big comeback in India with multiple new models. As part of its strategy, the brand aims to launch 10 new cars by 2030, and one of the first could be the Honda Prelude.
The Prelude has made a global comeback after nearly 20 years. Now in its sixth generation, the two-door coupe is already on sale in international markets and could arrive in India soon. It will be brought in as a CBU (Completely Built Unit).

The new Prelude is a two-door coupe with a 2+2 seating layout. It measures 4,520 mm in length, making it compact enough for city use. However, its low ground clearance of 135 mm could be a challenge on Indian roads.
The rear seats are more suitable for children, keeping the focus on front-seat comfort.
The Prelude uses a strong hybrid system, similar to the one seen on the Honda Civic e:HEV.
It combines a 2.0-litre petrol engine with two electric motors. The petrol engine produces 139 hp and 182 Nm, while the electric motor adds 181 hp and 315 Nm.
One of the most interesting features is Honda’s S+ Shift system.
Instead of a traditional gearbox, the Prelude uses a virtual 8-speed transmission that simulates gear shifts.
Drivers can use paddle shifters to control regenerative braking levels, and in S+ Shift mode, these paddles act like gear shift controls, adding a more engaging driving feel.
The Prelude can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.2 seconds and has a top speed of 188 kmph.
While it is not a hardcore sports car, it focuses more on efficiency. It delivers up to 23.6 km/l (WLTC) and offers a driving range of up to 944 km on a full tank.

Honda is expected to import the Prelude into India and could price it around Rs 75 lakh (ex-showroom).
It will be one of several global models planned for India as Honda looks to strengthen its presence in the premium segment.
