High Efficiency SUVs Coming - Hybrid & EV

New hybrid and EV SUVs coming soon. Range could go up to 500+ km. Focus on efficiency and lower running costs.

The Indian car market is changing fast. Rising fuel costs, stricter emission norms and higher ethanol blending are pushing carmakers to focus on efficiency and cleaner powertrains.

As a result, several new SUVs with hybrid and electric technology are set to arrive in the coming months, offering better mileage and longer driving range.

Hybrid Power for Better Range

One of the key upcoming models is the Jetour T2, expected under JSW Motors. Developed by Chery, this rugged SUV will use a plug-in hybrid setup.

It combines a petrol engine with an electric motor, allowing it to deliver strong performance along with an electric-only range of around 139 km. This setup is designed to improve fuel efficiency while also reducing emissions.

Electric SUVs with Long Range

Fully electric SUVs are also gaining attention. The iCAUR V23 will offer both dual-motor all-wheel-drive and single-motor options.

It is expected to deliver a driving range of up to 430 km, making it suitable for daily use as well as longer trips.

Another key model is the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella, which will be Toyota’s first electric SUV in India. Based on the Maruti e Vitara, it could offer a range of up to 543 km, along with premium features and modern tech.

Tata’s Electric SUV Push

Tata Motors is also expanding its EV lineup with the Tata Safari EV and the Tata Sierra EV.

The Safari EV is expected to be a flagship model with a powerful setup and long driving range, while the Sierra EV will focus on balancing efficiency and practicality.

Both models are likely to offer modern features, improved battery technology and strong road presence.
