The Hyundai Creta EV will be the first product launched by the South Korean automaker in India in 2025. The midsize electric SUV is set to make its official debut at the Bharat Mobility Show in January. The carmaker has confirmed that it will announce the Creta EV's prices on January 17 at the Auto Expo. Here, we answer (based on the available information) the most frequently asked questions about this EV.
Official details are yet to be revealed. However, the electric Creta is expected to feature a 45kWh battery pack paired with an electric motor. This setup, which also powers the global-spec new Hyundai Kona EV, is likely to deliver a range of over 350km. Its electric motor generates a maximum power of 138bhp and 255Nm of torque.
Hyundai might add a few extra features to the Creta EV, while most of the equipment will be carried over from its ICE counterpart. This means the electric iteration of the SUV is expected to come with features such as a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-speaker Bose audio system with a subwoofer, ventilated front seats, an 8-way powered driver’s seat, leatherette upholstery, a 360-degree camera, a blind spot monitor, an auto-dimming IRVM, active cruise control, an ADAS suite, Bluelink connected car tech, a wireless charger, keyless entry and go, ambient lighting, a voice-enabled panoramic sunroof, and more.
The Creta EV will have some differences compared to its ICE-powered counterpart. On the exterior, the EV will feature a closed grille, newly designed alloy wheels, tweaked front and rear bumpers, and ‘EV’ badging. Inside, it can be distinguished by a new three-spoke steering wheel, a repositioned drive selector controller, and Alcazar-inspired HVAC controls on the center panel. The infotainment unit might also receive an update.
The prices of the electric Creta will be higher than those of its ICE version, which is currently priced between ₹ 11 lakh and ₹ 20.30 lakh (ex-showroom). The EV’s base variant is expected to start at around ₹ 19 lakh, while the fully loaded trim might be priced at approximately ₹ 27 lakh.
Once launched, the Creta EV will compete with the Tata Curvv EV and MG ZS EV. Upcoming EVs from Maruti (e-Vitara) and Mahindra (XEV 9e) are also expected to provide strong competition to Hyundai’s first mass-market EV.
