International model spied Indian model to get small design differences Powertrain choices unchanged
Kia Motors has been testing the Sonet facelift in India for a while now. The new model has been spotted wearing camouflage on multiple occasions earlier. But now for the first time ever, the subcompact SUV has been spied sans camouflage, giving us the first look at the new Kia Sonet Facelift. We take a closer look.

The 2024 Kia Sonet facelift in the latest spy shots is actually an overseas model, being longer than 4 metres. At the front, it gets redesigned headlights that add new vertical LED headlights and taillights while the bumper has been slightly tweaked as well. The profile is largely unchanged from the current model, but will likely get new alloy wheels. At the rear, the Sonet facelift features new vertical taillights connected by a full-width LED light bar, with the new bumper being a more sculpted unit with a dual-tone black and silver finish. However, do note that the Indian Sonet will likely have a few different design elements than the international model in the pictures. While its not clear from the pictures, the facelifted model will come equipped with ADAS featuring radar similar to the Hyundai Venue which was recently updated with the advance saftey suite.
Previous leaked images have revealed the Sonet facelift interior will look quite similar to the outgoing model. There will be a few changes like a fully-digital instrument cluster and new switchgear for climate controls. The Sonet is also reported to get a new brown upholstery colour option and a rear-seat centre armrest.
The Sonet facelift will retain its current powertrain options. Choices include a 1-litre turbo-petrol motor that makes 120 bhp with 172 Nm of max torque or a 1.2-litre N/A petrol pumping out 83 bhp with 115 Nm of peak torque. The sole diesel option is a 1.5-litre turbocharged unit making 116 bhp with 250 Nm of max torque. Transmission options will either be a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed iMT, a 6-speed automatic, or a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
Kia is expected to introduce the Sonet facelift in India by the end of 2023 or early 2024. Upon launch, it will rival the likes of the Nissan Magnite, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Renault Kiger, Tata Nexon, and the Hyundai Venue.
