Thar 5-Door will get a unique grille and new LED headlights Interior will have new features like a bigger infotainment system and dashcam Both petrol and diesel powertrains are to be offered
Mahindra & Mahindra has been working on the Thar 5-Door now. The SUV is expected to be unveiled in the upcoming months. Now, the latest spy shots have revealed that the Thar 5-door will have a few differences compared to the 3-door model. We take a closer look.

The new leaked pictures capture the 2024 Mahindra Thar 5-door undergoing high-altitude testing in Ladakh. While the test mule is wearing heavy camouflage, it still reveals a few design details of the upcoming SUV. The Thar 5-Door seems to be sporting new LED projector headlights with integrated DRLs, LED fog lights, and a new front grille with a horizontal separator. The rear end features a new LED tail light design, though the shape remains similar to the Thar 3-door. Mahindra is also expected to add new alloy wheels to the new Thar, but this remains unconfirmed.
Moving inside, the Thar 5-door will have a longer feature list than the 3-door model. It will get a larger 10-inch infotainment system with connected car tech and a dash cam fitted behind it, a semi-digital instrument cluster, front and rear armrests, and an electric sunroof.
Mahindra will offer both petrol and diesel powertrain options on the Thar 5-door. This will include a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol that makes 150 bhp with 300 Nm of peak torque. Meanwhile, the 2.2-litre turbo diesel motor pumps out 130 bhp with 300 Nm of peak torque. Both manual and automatic transmission choices will be available as well.
The Indian auto giant is slated to launch the Thar 5-door around the first quarter of 2024. While it will not have any direct rivals, the Thar will compete against the Maruti Jimny and Force Gurkha in the lifestyle SUV segment.
