Mahindra has announced a big update to its Charging Policy for the new electric SUV Coupe's - BE 6 and XUV 9e. At the time of launch of these two electric SUVs, Mahindra has stated the prices of these vehicles did not include the charger and installation costs. Customers are required to pay an additional Rs 50,000 for a 7.2 kW charger or Rs 75,000 for an 11.2 kW charger. After the customer feedback, Mahindra has revised its EV charging policy by offering more flexibility to buyers.
- The new Policy has allowed customers to decide on the purchase of company-certified chargers and installation services.
- Mahindra has recommended its customers to opt for company-certified chargers for safety and efficiency. However, buyers can choose third-party charging solutions in specific cases.
- Customers who do not have the infrastructure to install the charger at their residence or office can now forgo the installation.
- If a customer already has an installed charger that meets Mahindra's safety standards, they won't require to buy the company-certified charger and can only buy the new SUVs.
- Customers with more than one Mahindra electric SUVs won't require to install multiple chargers and they can share a single charging point.
Most of the electric car manufacturers in India allow third-party charging options; however, they recommended to use their own charging solutions. The new Mahindra EV charging policy allows customers to have a control over their charging infrastructure. Consumers can select options that best suit their budget and requirement.
