Mahindra Vision S Could Be a Game Changer In Sub-4m SUV Segment – Here’s Why

Mahindra Vision S concept previews a rugged sub-4m SUV. New platform, and multiple powertrains expected.

Mahindra & Mahindra has evolved significantly from the rugged Bolero to globally competitive SUVs like Scorpio N and XUV 7XO and a futuristic EV lineup. The upcoming Mahindra Vision S is set to add another feather to its hat. Unveiled in a concept avatar in August 2025, the Vision S previews the brand’s new sub-4 metre SUV, which could prove to be a game changer. Here’s why we think so.

Sub 4m Rugged SUV With Off-road Capability

Mahindra Vision S Rugged Design

According to reports, the production-ready Mahindra Vision S will join the Scorpio family. It’s likely to retain its boxy and upright stance with high ground clearance and a tailgate mounted spare wheel. There is also a possibility that it could be offered with AWD or 4X4 capability, which isn’t common in this segment.

Several design elements from the concept are expected to be carried over such as a triplet LEDs at the front, inverted L-shaped headlamps, pixel-shaped fog lamps, thick body cladding, 19-inch tyres with star-shaped wheels, red callipers and disc brakes, flush-fitting door handles and inverted taillamps.

New NU_IQ Platform

The Vision S will be built on Mahindra’s new NU_IQ platform, which supports multiple powertrains including petrol, diesel, electric and hybrid. It’s compatible to accommodate SUVs measuring between 3990mm - 4320mm in length, and supports both FWD and RWD configurations. This flexibility means the production-ready version could be offered with multiple powertrain and drivetrain options, making it appealing to a wider audience.

Lifestyle SUV Under Rs 16-17 Lakh

The Mahindra Vision S SUV is expected to be priced from Rs 9.50 - 10 lakh for the base variant, and around Rs 16-17 lakh for the top-end trim (ex-showroom). At this price point, it could emerge as an attractive option for buyers looking for a rugged, lifestyle SUV that also caters to family requirements.
