Mahindra XEV 9S Beats Tata Harrier ICE and EV Combined in Feb 2026 Sales

The race to secure top position in the passenger electric vehicle category is getting intense, as Tata Motors and Mahindra are getting aggressive with their product strategy. While Tata Motors is still holding the top-spot with over 40 percent market, Mahindra is posting strong sales growth with its latest breed of EVs getting positive response. In the February month, Mahindra dispatched more than 3500 units of the XEV 9S electric SUV to dealerships. In fact, the electric SUV managed to beat the Tata Harrier ICE and EV combined in February sales.

Mahindra XEV 9S

Mahindra has sold 3539 units of the XEV 9S 7-seater electric SUV in February 2026. The electric SUV posted a MoM sales growth of 478.27 percent. In January 2026, Mahindra had dispatched only 612 units of the XEV 9S. The electric SUV is based on the brand’s INGLO architecture, which also underpins the XEV 9e and BE 6. The company sold 1889 units of the XEV 9e and 1104 units of the BE 6 in February 2026.

The Mahindra XEV 9s is available with three battery options - 59kWh, 70kWh, and 79kWh. The 59kWh battery variant offers a range of 521 km, while the 70kWh variant provides 600 km. The 79kWh battery option offers the longest certified range of up to 679 km. The electric SUV supports fast charging of up to 175kW. The electric SUV is priced at Rs 19.95 lakh for the base variant and Rs 29.45 lakh for the top-spec variant.

Tata Harrier and Harrier EV

Tata Motors has sold 3096 units of the Harrier ICE and EV combined in February 2026 as against 13,76 units in the same month last year, reporting a YoY sales growth of 125 percent. In January 2026, Tata had sold 3711 units of the Harrier line-up. The SUV’s MoM sales declined by 16.57 percent in the month of February 2026.

The Tata Harrier EV is available with both RWD and dual-motor AWD options. It is offered with two battery choices - 65kWh and 75kWh - and priced between Rs 21.49 lakh and Rs 29.74 lakh. The RWD single-motor version is claimed to offer a range of up to 538km, while the 75kWh model delivers a maximum MIDC range of 622km.
