Mahindra is all set to expand its EV lineup with the upcoming XUV 3XO EV, an electric iteration of its popular subcompact SUV. Unlike Mahindra’s born-electric models, this EV is based on an ICE-converted platform, making it a direct rival to the Tata Punch EV.
Currently in its testing phase, the XUV 3XO EV is expected to launch in the coming months with a design inspired by its ICE counterpart but featuring EV-specific elements. It will likely come equipped with a high-capacity battery pack, a practical driving range, and Mahindra’s latest connected car technologies.
Here’s a detailed look at what to expect from Mahindra’s next electric SUV.
Mahindra XUV 3XO EV is expected to retain the core design of its ICE counterpart while providing some EV-specific changes. Key updates may include a closed-off front panel in place of the traditional grille, a redesigned air dam, and subtle tweaks to the tailgate and bumper for a more aerodynamic look.
In terms of dimensions, the XUV 3XO EV is likely to remain identical to the ICE version, measuring 3,990mm in length, 1,821mm in width, and 1,647mm in height.
Mahindra XUV 3XO EV is expected to feature an interior layout similar to its ICE counterpart, offering a premium and tech-loaded cabin. Key highlights may include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, and an immersive Harman Kardon sound system.
On the safety and tech front, the XUV 3XO EV is likely to be equipped with Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and several other advanced driver-assistance features, enhancing both convenience and security.
Battery: The XUV 3XO EV is expected to feature a 35kWh battery pack, similar to the lower trims of the XUV400 EV.
Range: It is likely to offer a driving range of 375-400km on a full charge.
Motor: The EV is expected to come with a front-axle-mounted electric motor, delivering an efficient and responsive drive.
Charging: The XUV 3XO EV is expected to support both AC and DC fast charging, ensuring quick and convenient charging options.
The XUV 3XO EV will be positioned as a compact electric SUV, directly competing with the Tata Punch EV and other similarly sized models in the segment.
Within Mahindra’s EV lineup, the XUV 3XO EV will sit below the XUV400 EV, making it a more affordable alternative. It is expected to be priced around Rs. 2 lakh lower than the XUV400 EV, which currently retails between Rs. 15.49 lakh - Rs. 19.39 lakh (ex-showroom).
Its closest competitor will be Tata Punch EV, which is priced between Rs. 9.99 lakh - Rs. 14.44 lakh (ex-showroom).
