Maruti to launch e Vitara EV and Fronx Hybrid in 2026 7-seater Grand Vitara and new compact MPV in the works Next-gen Baleno and micro SUV to join the lineup
Maruti Suzuki has long been the go-to brand for Indian car buyers, thanks to its affordable, reliable, and feature-packed vehicles. But in the coming years, the brand is about to take a bold step forward. With a lineup of exciting new cars in 2026 and beyond, Maruti Suzuki is set to capture even more market share by introducing electric, hybrid, and larger SUV options.
From the much-awaited e Vitara, India's first all-electric SUV, to a new generation of hybrids and compact MPVs, the company is pulling out all the stops.
Here’s a closer look at the upcoming Maruti cars in India that are sure to grab your attention.
Maruti’s first all-electric car, the e Vitara, is set to debut in early 2026. The production has already started at Maruti’s Gujarat plant, and the much-anticipated electric SUV will come in two battery options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The larger 61 kWh battery delivers a range of up to 500 km on a single charge. Unlike the global models, the e Vitara will be available in a 2WD configuration for the Indian market, keeping in line with India’s preference for affordable EV options.

In 2026, Maruti will launch the Fronx Hybrid, the brand’s first car to feature its in-house developed HEV Series hybrid technology. The Fronx will continue using the 1.2-litre Z12E petrol engine but will be paired with the hybrid system to offer better fuel efficiency and lower emissions. Expected to go on sale in the first half of 2026, the Fronx Hybrid will bring the brand’s hybrid technology to a compact SUV.
While we can expect some cosmetic updates over the existing model, the big draw will be the hybrid powertrain. The Fronx Hybrid will be a perfect choice for those who want an eco-friendly, fuel-efficient compact SUV without compromising on style or performance.
Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch a 7-seater variant of the popular SUV in 2026. This extended version of the popular Grand Vitara will be perfect for families who need more space but still want the comfort and features of a premium SUV.
Expected to compete with established players like the Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV700, the 7-seater Grand Vitara will offer an even roomier cabin, an attractive option for large families. As for the 7-seater Grand Vitara price, while nothing is official yet, it is expected to be priced competitively to make it a value-for-money offering in the market.
Maruti is also venturing into the compact MPV segment with the upcoming new Maruti MPV. Codenamed YDB, this new model will be positioned below the popular Ertiga. The compact MPV is expected to measure under 4 meters, making it perfect for urban families who need a compact yet spacious vehicle.
With the growing popularity of small, affordable family cars, this new Maruti MPV will rival models like the Renault Triber and provide an excellent option for budget-conscious buyers. The MPV will likely be powered by the same 1.2-litre Z-Series petrol engine, paired with the HEV Series hybrid technology, delivering excellent fuel economy without compromising on performance.
The next-gen Baleno 2026 is all set to make its debut towards the end of 2026 or early 2027. Built on a modified version of the HEARTECT platform, the new Baleno will feature an all-new design, upgraded interiors, and more premium features. The new hatchback will also come with an advanced hybrid powertrain, which Maruti is first rolling out in the Fronx Hybrid.
Expect features like an electric sunroof, ventilated front seats, and a larger touchscreen infotainment system in the new Baleno, making it a much more premium offering than the current model. As the most fuel-efficient car in its category, the Baleno hybrid will appeal to buyers looking for a stylish yet eco-friendly hatchback.
In the late 2026 to early 2027 timeline, Maruti will launch a micro SUV designed specifically for Indian buyers. Known internally as Y43, this micro SUV will be positioned below the current Maruti SUV lineup, competing with the likes of the Hyundai Exter and Tata Punch.
The Y43 micro SUV will be powered by a 1.2L, 3-cylinder Z-Series petrol engine, and is expected to come with mild hybrid technology. This small yet rugged SUV will appeal to first-time buyers and urban dwellers who want a compact vehicle with high ground clearance and low running costs. With its affordable price and practical features, the Maruti Y43 is set to make waves in the compact SUV segment.
