New-Gen Kia Seltos Hybrid to Hit US in 2026, India in 2027

Kia is gearing up to expand the Seltos lineup globally with the introduction of a hybrid variant. The all-new Seltos hybrid will debut in the US first, followed by a launch in India next year. Here’s what we know so far.

US Launch and Hybrid Powertrain

The 2027 Kia Seltos hybrid in the US will feature a turbocharged 1.6-litre engine paired with an electric motor. This setup is expected to deliver smooth performance and better fuel efficiency. Buyers will have the option of a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and an eAWD (electric all-wheel-drive) system, ideal for tackling challenging roads and diverse driving conditions.

While Kia has not shared complete specifications yet, the hybrid system could resemble those used in the Kia Niro and Hyundai Kona. Standard versions will likely come with front-wheel drive, whereas the eAWD option will include a rear-mounted electric motor.

India Gets a Localised 1.5-Litre Hybrid

For India, Kia is expected to use the existing 115 hp 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine combined with a hybrid system. The company plans to localise production to keep costs competitive against rivals like Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder. The Indian launch is anticipated in 2027, giving buyers a more efficient and modern alternative in the compact SUV segment.

Updated Design and Features

The US-spec new Seltos has a slightly wider body and a longer wheelbase compared to the previous model. The wheelbase now measures 2,690 mm, and top trims offer a ground clearance of 206 mm.

Inside, the SUV will come with advanced digital displays, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Features like a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and heated front seats, memory functions, and class-leading second-row legroom will enhance comfort.

Safety is a key focus, with the new Seltos offering up to 24 driver assistance and collision avoidance systems. It also includes a 360° surround view monitor and blind-spot view monitor.

Global Rollout Strategy

The new Seltos hybrid will be manufactured in South Korea and exported to key markets. The US launch is expected between June and August 2026, while the Indian version will follow in 2027. Kia aims to strengthen the Seltos’ global appeal by offering hybrid powertrains tailored to regional needs.
