The next-gen Mahindra Bolero is reportedly to be launched in the country in 2026. Mahindra has now officially started road testing of the next Bolero. The heavily camouflaged test mule suggests that the brand’s most iconic and best-selling model will receive significant design changes and new underpinnings.
The new Bolero is expected to be the first model from the homegrown UV maker to be based on the upcoming New Flexible Architecture (NFA) platform. Set to be revealed on August 14-15, 2025, the new flexible architecture will be compatible with different powertrains including petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric.
The overall silhouette appears completely different from any of the existing and previous Boleros. It will carry the same upright, boxy stance, but has more modern appearance with Scorpio-N like muscular and squared-off profile and prominent proportions. The overall shape also seems heavily inspired by the Scorpio-N.
The spy images reveal that the SUV gets a round-shaped LED headlamps, Scorpio-N like front grille, muscular bumper that houses wider air intake and a flat bonnet. It comes with vertically stacked horizontal tail-lamps, while the upright tailgate houses a spare wheel mount.
The next-gen Bolero will have bigger alloys and new outside rear view mirrors. The side doors and other elements seem inspired by the new Thar Roxx, but doors are well integrated. The side has simple design with less creases and curves, and large glass areas, while the pronounced wheel arches gives it a rugged appeal. Another interesting bit is the flush type door handles, which suggests that the new Bolero will be a premium UV. The higher variants could get panoramic sunroof and ADAS features.
The new platform is claimed to be a monocoque architecture, which will support different body styles and powertrain options. This will be a future ready platform with compatibility to ICE, hybrid and electric powertrains. In fact, media reports suggest that the next-gen Mahindra Bolero could get an electric derivative in 2026-27.
The new Mahindra Bolero is most likely to be produced at Mahindra’s new Chakan facility. The homegrown automaker hopes that the vehicles based on this new architecture will significantly increase its sales volume.
The new gen Mahindra Bolero is likely to be offered with multiple powertrain options. It is reported that the next Bolero will come with multiple seating options. The lifestyle SUV is expected to be offered with 1.5L turbo diesel and a 2.2L turbo diesel engines, which are offered with the Thar 3-door. In the future, Mahindra could also add a petrol and a petrol-hybrid version. Also See - Tata Harrier EV Stealth Edition Breaks Cover
