Hyundai is readying a midlife facelift for its popular three-row SUV, the Alcazar. Recent spy images have revealed some interesting details about the upcoming design changes on the Alcazar.
The most prominent change in the Alcazar facelift would come up at the front end itself. The spy images suggest that the SUV has a new front grille, which appears to be bigger than the one on the current model.
The image suggests that the spy images confirm the SUV's new grille, which looks a little larger in size compared to the one on the current model. Even the LED DRLs are redesigned and have the 'H' factor that makes it different from Creta's DRLs. It is yet to be seen whether the Alcazar will come with a light bar connecting the two DRL units or not.
While the headlamp unit looks like it has been lifted straight from the existing model, the design of the alloy wheels has been revised.
Inside the cabin, the Alcazar facelift could use the same dashboard layout as the recently launched Creta facelift and also offer dual 10.25-inch infotainment displays. Besides these updates, the SUV is likely to receive the latest ADAS for better safety.
Under the hood, the Alcazar facelift might retain the same powertrains that do duty on the current car, which are 160 hp power and 253 Nm torque. The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel make a pairing with a 6-speed manual as standard, while a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is optional.
While the price will be a little higher as compared to the current model, Alcazar is going to compete neck and neck in the Indian market with Mahindra XUV700, Scorpio N, Tata Safari, and MG Hector Plus once the facelift version arrives, probably by October 2023.
In other words, this Alcazar facelift is a subtle attempt at refreshing Hyundai's three-row SUV, giving it a more premium look without losing all those core attributes of the vehicle that essentially make it a very strong choice among Indian buyers.
