As is well known, Kia is actively preparing its Seltos for a generational update. Recently, the next-gen Seltos was also spied testing in snow in Europe. Though the test mule was heavily camouflaged, it yet hinted at its design and features.
Here is what we know so far about the new-gen Kia Seltos:
Based on the recent spy images, the next-gen Kia Seltos looks a little more sporty. Up front, it features a boxy shape grille with vertical slats, new square LED headlights, and a more upright bonnet. The new model is likely to get two strip-type LED fog lamps.
The side profile of the new-gen Seltos looks boxy. The SUV looks larger and even the rear quarter glass is clearly bigger. Towards the rear, the new-gen model shows C-shaped LED taillights, slanted LED turn indicators, and probably a light bar connecting the taillights.
The interior of the new-gen Seltos is yet to be revealed. However, there are some features that are highly expected for the SUV. Some of these include 12.3-inch displays (for infotainment & instrumentation), a 5-inch touch-enabled screen for AC controls, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charger, dual-zone auto AC, and electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation functionality.
The new-gen Seltos is expected to offer six airbags as standard, disc brakes on all wheels, a tyre pressure monitoring system, an electronic parking brake, and a 360-degree camera. Apart from this, the new-gen SUV will also have an ADAS suite comprising essential features like forward collision warning and adaptive cruise control.
Kia is likely to offer the same powertrain options available in the current model. The next-gen Seltos is expected to get the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel engines. Transmission choices will include 6-speed MT, 7-step CVT, 6-speed iMT, 7-speed DCT, and 6-speed AT.
Speculations suggest that the new-gen Seltos will also get a hybrid engine with an optional All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) system. However, it has yet to be officially announced by the brand.
The upcoming Kia Seltos is likely to be priced a little more than the current-spec model. It will cost between Rs 11.13 lakh and Rs 20.51 lakh (ex-showroom). As for the rivals, the new-gen Kia Seltos will give great competition to Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, Maruti Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun.
