Renault Duster To Get 4 Major Upgrades – New AT, Hybrid, 7-Seater & Mini SUV

Renault Duster to get affordable automatic and hybrid variants in 2026. 7-seater Duster and Mini Duster planned for next year.

Launched in March 026, the third-generation Renault Duster has been generating volumes for the French carmaker in India. Aiming to further strengthen the Duster brand’s presence in the market, the company is planning to introduce four major additions to the lineup, including a more affordable automatic variant, a strong hybrid version, a three-row model and a rugged mini version.

New Affordable AT Variant

According to fresh media reports, Renault will soon add a new entry-level Authentic 1.3L automatic variant in the Duster lineup. Currently, all 1.3L turbo petrol variants, expect the base Authentic trim, are available with a 6-speed DCT transmission.

There is also speculations that Renault might introduce a CVT automatic or AMT gearbox option on the 1.0L turbo petrol-powered Duster variants.

Renault Duster Hybrid

Following the SUV lineup expansion, Renault India will introduce the Duster hybrid during this year’s Diwali season. The carmaker has already confirmed that the hybrid powertrain will include a 109bhp, 1.8L naturally aspirated petrol engine, two electric motors (a 49bhp drive motor and a 20bhp generator motor) and a 1.4kWh battery pack. This configuration offers a combined power of 160bhp and 172Nm of torque.

Renault Duster 7-Seater

The 7-seater version of the Renault Duster is planned for 2027. Based on the RGMP platform, the three-row SUV will borrow its turbo petrol engines and hybrid powertrain with the standard 5-seater Duster.

The overall design and styling, interior, features and several components will also be carried over from its 5-seater Duster. However, the three-row Duster will be longer and more spacious accommodating an additional row of seats. When launched, the 7-seater Renault Duster will take on the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV 7XO and MG Hector Plus.

Mini Renault Duster

Renault Bridger India Launch

Renault has planned a new sub-4m SUV for the Indian market, inspired by the Bridger concept. Often referred to as mini Duster, this new subcompact model will underpin RGMP platform and feature a rugged and muscular design language. It’s expected to be offered with multiple engine options including petrol, hybrid and electric.

According to reports, Renault is developing a new 1.2L, four-cylinder turbo petrol engine, which is likely to make its debut in the Bridger compact SUV. This engine will be a derivative of the Duster’s 1.3L TGDi engine. The production-ready Renault Bridger is slated to launch in India by the end of 2027.
