Skoda has started the production phase for its supposedly first electric SUV, Enyaq EV at the major manufacturing plant in the Czech Republic. This is electric SUV was originally supposed to be launched in 2024 but has delayed till now. The automaker said that they will be bringing the EV to India around September 2025. The Enyaq EV will be based on the Volkswagen Group's modular electric toolkit.
Let's have a look at what you can expect from this upcoming Skoda electric SUV.
The electric Enyaq is based on the modular electric toolkit (MEB), which is the same as the Octavia and the upcoming fully electric compact SUV, the Elroq. The production plant not only assembles the Enyaq and other models but also manufactures battery systems for MEB vehicles. However, it seems that the automaker is waiting to properly assess the EV policy to confirm whether it’s the Elroq or the Enyaq, that will come as full imports.
As for the Enyaq EV, it is likely to feature two battery sizes and three powertrain options, Enyaq 60, Enyaq 85, and Enyaq 85x. The Enyaq 60 and 85 would be offered with a single electric motor and rear-wheel drive, while the Enyaq 85x, will add a second electric motor for all-wheel drive.
The battery output of the model is claimed to deliver between 204 bhp and 286 bhp with a 587 km (WLTP) range for the Coupe and up to 577km with the Enyaq.
Further information on the models is yet to be revealed by the brand, so we will have to wait and see what the Skoda will offer for the upcoming months.
