Volkswagen is set to expand its lineup in India, expected to come in Q2, 2025. The Tiguan R-Line, alongside the Golf GTI, which is a global product, has been confirmed to launch in the country. The R Line is among the top-range versions of the new-gen Tiguan. The model is likely to be fully imported, which would lead to premium pricing for it.
Here have a look at what this global product would be offering from design to performance.
This model is the range-topper, meaning that its line-up offers sporty front and back bumpers, a rear spoiler, and side panels for design spec. The Tiguan R-Line features full-width horizontal LED light strips at the front and rear, and larger 19-inch alloy wheels. Globally, the car also has to spec the car in a Black Style package option.
For the interior, apart from the expected theme change the car will be equipped with features like a 12.9-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, an 8-speaker audio system alongside the existing panoramic sunroof, a 3-zone automatic climate control, a power-adjustable driver's seat, 30-colour ambient lighting and safety essentials like six airbags, electronic stability.
For its sale in the Indian market, the car is likely to get some cosmetic changes with a new body style and a new interior theme.
The automaker is yet to reveal which engine option will be brought to India, however, it is known that the new Tiguan is built on the MQB Evo platform. This model in the UK is available with a range of mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, petrol, and diesel engine options.
For its lineup here, the car is likely to have the same engine spec as the current model here, which is a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine. This engine delivers 191 bhp and is paired with a 7-speed DCT with all-wheel drive.
The current Tiguan model is priced at Rs 38.17 lakh (ex-showroom), so the next-gen SUV, which is a higher-spec, is expected to significantly mark higher.
