Tata Motors has an aggressive EV product strategy for the Indian market. In 2025, the home-grown automaker is set to launch at least three new electric cars, including the Harrier EV, Sierra EV, and Altroz EV. All these EVs will be showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. The Tata Harrier EV will be the first product offering from the indigenous automaker in 2025. Here, we answer all the questions about the Harrier EV, revealing its powertrain details, features, design, and expected prices.
Powertrain specifications of the Harrier EV are yet to be revealed officially. However, the electric SUV is likely to use a 60 kWh battery along with a dual electric motor setup. It is expected to offer a range of around 500 km on a full charge. The EV will support both V2L (vehicle-to-load) and V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) charging functionalities. One of its test mules was spotted with a rear-mounted electric motor, hinting at the presence of an AWD (all-wheel drive) system.
Based on spy images, it’s clear that the Harrier EV will feature a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a digital instrument cluster, a four-spoke steering wheel, a wireless phone charger, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, a touch-based HVAC panel, a 360-degree surround camera with blind-spot monitoring, a stubby gear selector lever, Level 2 ADAS technology, and a panoramic sunroof. There will also be yellow accents throughout the cabin and a mounted speaker, while the dashboard will be carried forward from its ICE version.
The ICE-powered Harrier is based on the OmegaArch platform, which is a re-engineered version of the Land Rover D8 architecture. The SUV’s electric iteration will be designed on Tata’s Acti.ev platform, which is also used for the Punch EV and Curvv EV. This architecture is said to provide 10 percent better energy density and an optimized battery pack design with cells that meet advanced global standards. The design of the Harrier EV will have slight differences compared to its ICE counterpart.
The Harrier EV prices are expected to start at around ₹ 25 lakh and go up to ₹ 30 lakh (ex-showroom). Its ICE version is currently available within the price range of ₹ 15.49 lakh – ₹ 26.44 lakh.
This new Tata electric SUV will compete against the MG ZS EV and BYD Atto 3, which are priced between ₹ 18.98 lakh – ₹ 25.75 lakh and ₹ 24.99 lakh – ₹ 33.99 lakh, respectively. The forthcoming Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti e-Vitara will also be positioned as its main rivals.
MG Windsor PRO EV launching soon with a bigger battery, up to 400 km range, ADAS safety features, updated interiors, and smarter tech upgrades.
