The Harrier EV is set to hit roads in the coming months with AWD and 500Nm torque. The Sierra will come with three powertrain options - petrol, diesel, and electric. The Harrier EV was showcased in a matte black "Stealth Edition" at Bharat Mobility Show. The Sierra EV features twin screens; while the ICE gets a triple-screen setup.
Tata Motors’ major focus is on driving the greener solutions with significant investment in electric vehicles (EVs), semiconductor manufacturing and renewable energy. In 2025, the indigenous automaker plans to introduce at least three big electric SUVs including the Tata Harrier EV, Safari EV and Sierra EV. The Harrier EV is set to hit roads in the next couple of months, while the Sierra EV and ICE versions will arrive in the second half of 2025. Let’s take a closer look at key details of these upcoming electric Tata SUVs.
The Tata Harrier EV, which first broke cover in its concept form at the 2023 Auto Expo, underpins the brand’s Gen 2 EV architecture. At this year’s Bharat Mobility Show, the carmaker unveiled its production version in a matte black paint scheme – called the Harrier Stealth Edition. The EV features a differently designed grille, new front and rear bumpers with EV-specific details. Unlike its ICE counterpart, the Harrier EV has new aero-optimized alloy wheels in dual-tone finish and ‘EV’ badging on the front doors and tailgate.
The cabin theme and features share a strong resemblance with its diesel-powered version. The SUV has a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with new terrain modes, vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging functionalities, connected car tech, OTA updates and cloud-connected telematics.
The powertrain details of the Tata Harrier EV are still under the wraps. Though, the carmaker has confirmed that the EV will offer a maximum torque of 500Nm. It could be offered with the AWD (all-wheel drive) system).
The Tata Sierra will be one of the biggest SUV launches of this year. The carmaker will introduce it with both pure electric and ICE (internal combustion engine) powertrain options. The petrol version is likely to come with a 1.5L turbo engine pushing out a maximum power of 170bhp and 280Nm of torque, while the diesel model will feature the Curvv’s 1.5L motor. The battery or motor details of the Sierra EV are not available at this point.
The design and styling of the Tata Sierra EV and ICE are slightly different, especially the front fascia. The ICE version has body-coloured finish on the bumper and gloss black finish on the upper section of the nose, while in the Sierra EV, it’s the opposite. In fact, the alloy wheel design is also different. However, both versions share common elements such as the thick gloss black cladding, a sharply raked windscreen, flush-door handles and an upright rear end.
The Sierra EV has two separate screens for the infotainment and instrument functionalities, while the Sierra ICE has a triple-screen setup along with the four-spoke steering wheel and functional AC vents. This SUV is expected to be offered with both 4 and 5-seats configurations.
