Tata Motors recently brought out an ell-electric avatar of the Punch Mini SUV. In comparison to the existing petrol model, the Punch.ev features a radically designed exterior with added features. However, when it comes to the regular Punch, the company as per a media report has stated following a 3-year cycle for a facelift customers can only expect the model to come into the country by the second of 2025. Earlier the speculation was that it would get launched this year but that is not so.
Tata Punch Facelift will receive a new look with Tata's latest design language, just like the new Punch.ev. The changes will focus on the front, including a new grille, redesigned headlights, and LED daytime running lights (DRLs).
In addition, the LED DRLs might have a special animation when you turn them on or off, similar to what we see in the updated 2024 Tata Nexon.
However, unlike the Punch.ev, the upgraded ICE version will offer a black grille to differentiate itself from the battery pack variant.
Apart from this, we don't expect big changes on the sides and rear profile of the vehicle. But, it is believed that the facelift model could come with a new set of alloy wheels.
The upcoming Tata Punch Facelift is likely to get more tech and safety features, similar to its electric version, the Punch.ev. While both versions will have some differences in their features, some exciting additions are expected. These may include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an air purifier, and ventilated front seats.
Safety will also be enhanced with equipment like 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Blind Spot Monitoring, and more.
It looks like Tata will probably keep using the same 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine for the updated Punch. This engine currently delivers a maximum power output of 88 bhp with 115 Nm of peak torque. For the transmission, you can select between either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT.
When running on CNG, the power output is said to be reduced to 73.5 bhp and 103 Nm of torque. There will only be a 5-speed manual transmission onboard.
The Tata Punch Facelift is likely to be priced from Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. As for the rival, once launched it will compete against the likes of the Citroen C3, Hyundai Exter, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger in its segment.
