Tata Motors to launch Sierra EV in Q2, 2026 Toyota to release Ebella prices in March 2026
The Indian mid-sized electric SUV segment is all set to welcome two new models in the coming 3-4 months. While Mahindra’s BE 6 has already established its presence with its futuristic design and high range, two major mid-sized electric SUVs are entering the ring to challenge its dominance. Tata Motors will introduce the Sierra EV nameplate, while Toyota EBella will be the brand’s first EV offering in India.

The much-anticipated Tata Sierra EV will go on sale in our market in the second quarter of 2026, between April and June. The electric SUV will take on the likes of the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric and Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. It will be built on the Tata Motors’ EV-specific Acti.ev platform that also underpins the Curvv EV and Punch EV. It will be positioned between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV in Tata’s EV lineup.
The electric SUV is likely to be offered with two battery choices, including a 55kWh from Curvv.ev and 65kWh from Harrier.ev. It will come as a front-wheel-drive electric SUV, but the higher-spec model with 65kWh battery will also get a dual-motor AWD (All-Wheel-Drive) setup. We expect the new Sierra EV to offer a certified range of around 550-600km, and its realistic range would be around 400km in a single charge.
It will come with a triple screen dashboard comprising a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and a 12.3-inch co-occupant screen. In terms of features, the electric SUV will get full LED lighting setup, flush-type door handles, EV-specific aero-optimised alloy wheels, ventilated and powered front seats, panoramic sunroof, LEVEL 2 ADAS, electronic stability control (ESC), hill launch and descent control, and others.

Toyota will finally enter the Indian EV passenger market with its first fully electric SUV, the Urban Cruiser Ebella EV. The company has already revealed the SUV and its features along with battery specs, and we are only waiting for its prices. Set to be launched in March 2026, the Ebella will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6 and VinFast VF6.
The electric SUV is available with two battery choices, including a 49kWh and a 61kWh LFP battery. While the former offers 144hp and 189Nm, the bigger battery with front electric motor offers 174hp and 189Nm. The higher-spec model is claimed to offer a certified range of up to 543km on a single charge.
It is based on the eHEARTECT platform that also underpins the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. In terms of features, the electric SUV gets a 10.1-inch digital instrument console and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. The SUV also supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and includes ventilated front seats, 12-colour ambient lighting, and a JBL sound system. For safety and security, the electric SUV gets 7 airbags, all-4 disc brakes, 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, LEVEL-2 ADAS and others.
