Upcoming Car Launches in June 2023

2023 has been a busy year for the Indian automakers. With nearly half a year gone by, we have witnessed multiple brands launching all-new models or facelifts in the market. And the launch frenzy doesn't look like it is going to slow anytime soon, with a number of new cars slated to arrive in June 2023.

Here is a look at all the new cars expected to launch in India during June 2023.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Rs 12 lakh - Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom)

Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door is arguably one of the most-awaited launches of 2023. While there is no official launch date, the brand has confirmed to reveal the prices for the new model in early June. With over 30,000 bookings, the new model has become the fan favourite. The new SUV will rival the likes of the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha in the popular lifestyle SUV segment.

Visually, the Jimny 5-door looks quite similar to its 3-door sibling with its straight lines and squared-off edges. The front end features a clamshell bonnet, a Jeep-inspired five-slat grille with chrome inserts and circular projector headlights.

At the side, the SUV gets flared wheel arches with black body cladding, a large glasshouse, and a contrasting black roof. The rear end houses the full-size spare tyre while the taillights are placed low on the bumper.

In terms of features, the Jimny 5-door will get a  9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, a semi-digital instrument cluster, connected car tech, auto climate control, cruise control, an audio setup from Arkamys, and more.

Powering the Jimny is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol that makes 105 bhp with 138 Nm of max torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic. The Jimny 5-door also gets Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system with a low-range gearbox and manual transfer case.

Honda Elevate: Rs 10 lakh - Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom)

Honda Elevate

Honda India is currently among the few brands in India that do not offer a compact SUV. Given how profitable the Indian compact SUV segment is, it has become quite important for Honda to enter this segment at the earliest. And it is going to do that on 6 June 2023 with the all-new Honda Elevate.

In terms of design, Honda Elevate will have a clean-sheet approach. The spy shots reveal an upright front-end design with a high-set bonnet, sharp LED headlights and a large grille.

Moving to the side, the SUV gets flared wheel arches, new alloy wheels and a flat roof that add character to the overall design. At the rear, it gets new LED tail lights, boot lid spoiler and an angled windshield.

On the inside, the new Elevate will come packed with features like a large infotainment system, a digital instrument console, connected car tech, auto climate control, an electric sunroof, wireless charging, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, and more. It will also get ADAS features, dubbed Honda Sensing, like adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and auto high beam assist.

At launch, Honda will offer only a single powertrain option with the Elevate. The 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine is rated to make 121 bhp and 145 Nm of peak torque. Both manual and CVT automatic gearbox options will be on offer.

Hyundai Exter: Rs 5.5 lakh - Rs 9.5 lakh (ex-showroom)

Hyundai Exter

The Hyundai Exter will be the latest entrant in the brand's broad SUV portfolio. Rivalling the Tata Punch in the newly created micro-SUV segment, the new model is expected to be built on the same platform as the Aura and Grand i10 Nios. Set to launch on 10 June 2023, the new SUV is set to captivate the market with its bold design and feature-rich cabin.

Hyundai recently revealed the design of the new Exter. The micro-SUV features an upright front fascia that gets ‘H’-shaped DRLs, projector headlights and a new parametric grille.

Towards the side, the new SUV features squared-off wheel arches with chunky body cladding, new alloy wheels, and a blacked-out roof with roof rails. At the rear, the car will come equipped with LED taillights with an ‘H’ lighting signature similar to the front, a thick black contrast trim that spans the width of the car, bootlid spoiler and a faux aluminium skid plate.

While Hyundai is yet to reveal the interior of the Exter, we expect it to come packed with technology. Key highlights will likely include a large infotainment system, connected car tech, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital instrument cluster, electric sunroof, auto climate control, rear AC vents, keyless entry and go, wireless charging and a rear camera with parking sensors.

The Exter will be offered with a single petrol powertrain option. It is a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that churns out 82 bhp with 114 Nm of peak torque and will be mated to a 5-speed manual or an AMT transmission. There will also be a CNG variant on offer that is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Exter will become the first Hyundai SUV to not get a diesel engine option.

Mercedes Benz SL55 Roadster: Rs 1.03 crore - Rs 1.10 crore (ex-showroom)

Mercedes Benz SL55 Roadster

German automaker Mercedes-Benz recently announced it would bring the new SL roadster to India on 22 June 2023. Currently, in its 7th generation, the SL will be making a comeback in the Indian market after a gap of over a decade.

The new Mercedes Benz SL is one of the first models to be designed at the brand’s California design studio. It has an aggressive and sportier design than the previous model. The front end gets angular LED headlights, a signature Panamericana grille, and a ‘power dome’ bonnet.

In profile, the SL features the classic long front bonnet silhouette that is accentuated by the flared wheel arches and short overhangs. At the rear, it gets slim LED tail lights, an integrated active rear spoiler and quad exhaust pipes. Mercedes has also returned to a soft-top roof for the new SL which can close or open in just 15 seconds.

Moving inside, the 2023 SL comes loaded with all the latest features. It will get an 11.9-inch portrait infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, auto climate control, push-button start/stop, ventilated and powered front seats, wireless charging, audio setup by Burmester, and an Airscarf feature that gently blows warm air to the driver’s and passenger’s necks.

The SL will be offered in the AMG 55 guise in India. It is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo petrol motor that makes 478 bhp with 700 Nm of max torque. A 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox is the only transmission option on offer.
