Renault cars has already showcased the next-gen Duster in concept form, while camouflaged test mules have also given us a glimpse of what it may look like. Now, ahead of its debut later this month, Motor1.com has shared leaked patent images of the Duster. Here’s what they reveal.
The new patent images confirm that the next-gen Renault Duster will be bigger than the outgoing model. However, it will still be more compact than the Bigster concept, which is a 3-row SUV. The production version of the Duster retains design elements from the concept like the Y-shaped headlights, full-width lightbar, slim main grille, and a high bonnet. The bumper features a chunky skid plate and vertical air intake on either side of it.
At the side, the squared wheel arches, 10-spoke alloy wheels, contrast body cladding and roof rails reinforce the SUV’s rugged stance while the upward-kinked rear quarter glass is a visual link between the old and new Duster. Moving to the rear, the next-gen Duster’s Y-motif continues with the LED tail light. It also features a boot lid spoiler, a sculpted boot lid, and a muscular bumper with an integrated skid plate.
Previous reports have revealed that the new Duster will be offered with three powertrain options globally. This includes a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor making 120 bhp, a 1.2-litre strong-hybrid engine pumping out around 140 bhp, and a range-topping 1.3-litre turbo-petrol that makes 170 bhp of peak power. The latter will also be flex-fuel compliant.
Additionally, with a diesel powertrain option being dropped from the new Duster’s lineup, the strong-hybrid variant will become the fuel-efficient model.
Renault cars is slated to unveil the all-new Duster in Portugal on November 29 globally and will go on sale around the first quarter of 2024. The SUV is expected to reach Indian shores the year after in 2025. Upon launch, it will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Škoda Kushaq, and more in the crowded compact SUV segment.
