Before the end of this financial year, we will witness the launch of two new sub-4 meter SUVs. While Skoda will enter the sub-compact SUV segment in the first quarter of 2025, Nissan will introduce the long-awaited Magnite facelift on October 4, 2024. Let's talk about these two models in details -
Japanese automaker Nissan will release the prices of the Magnite facelift in the country on October 4, 2024. The updated model will come with cosmetic design changes and upgraded interior; however, the engine mechanicals are likely to remain the same. Going by the spy images available on the Internet, the new Magnite facelift is likely to receive a new grille and restyled bumper. It could retain the headlamp design, but with a new signature LED DRLs. The side profile is likely to retain the original design, except for the new set of alloys.
The cabin is likely to receive new upholstery and some additional features. The Magnite is an important car for the Japanese manufacturer, as the facelifted model will also be exported to RHD and LHD markets. In fact, production of the left-hand drive (LHD) versions for exports will also be started in India.
The new Nissan Magnite facelift will continue to be offered with the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines. The naturally-aspirated unit produces 72hp and 96Nm of torque, while the turbocharged version is good for 100hp and 160Nm. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual, an AMT and a CVT automatic.

Skoda India will launch the Kylaq sub-4 meter SUV in the first quarter of 2025, most probably in January at Bharat Mobility Show. Its production is likely to commence by October this year. It will be based on the modified MQB AO IN platform that underpins the Kushaq and Slavia. The new model will be produced at the brand's Chakan based plant.
Skoda is aiming to produce around 4,000 to 6,000 units of the Kylaq each month. It will first launch in India and will also be exported to select international markets. The Kylaq will be the first Skoda car to introduce the brand's 'Modern Solid' design language. It is likely to share some of its styling from the Skoda Elroq electric SUV. The SUV features a new grille with vertical slats, split headlamp setup, LED tail-lamps and prominent creases.
The Skoda Kylaq is likely to source some of its interior features with the Kushaq and Slavia. It could also get some features such as a 360-degree camera and an ADAS suite, which are not available in the Kushaq. It will be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 113bhp and 178Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The new Kylaq will rival the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza and others in the category.
