The 9th generation Toyota Hilux has finally made its global debut in Thailand. The company has also revealed the fully-electric version of the lifestyle SUV. It comes with a completely new design, new cabin, and a longer list of comfort and convenience features.
Called the new Hilux Travo, the lifestyle pickup truck is available in 3 trims - Travo Prerunner, Travo 4TREX and Travo Overland. Toyota has also introduced the Hilux EV in Thailand. Moreover, the company is also developing an FCEV model for Europe and Oceania. The Hilux FCEV is scheduled to be introduced in global markets in 2028.

The new Hilux Bravo measures 5,320mm in length, 1885mm in width and 1,815mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3,085mm. The pickup’s length is reduced by 5mm, while the width has been increased by 30mm compared to the existing model. The ground clearance stands at 224mm for the standard variants, and 225mm for the Overland. This is again an increase of 8mm.
The new Toyota Hilux is powered by a 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo diesel engine that produces 204PS and 500Nm of torque. The engine comes with automatic engine stop and start system. A six-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift comes as a standard. While the Travo Prerunner and 4TREX are available as a rear-wheel-drive model, the Hilux Travo Overland comes with 4-wheel drive system with a differential lock at the rear axle.
The Toyota Hilux Bravo is claimed to have a 700mm water wading capacity. Off-road performance is further improved with the Multi-Terrain Select system. A panoramic view monitor is also available to support parking and precise on-road manoeuvres.

The new-gen Toyota Hilux moves to one body style - the Double Cab. It comes with all-new dashboard dominated by a 12.3-inch, customisable driver’s display and a 12.3-inch centrally-mounted touchscreen infotainment unit.
All the AWD and off-road controls are centrally grouped for ease of operations; and the BEV model adopts a single-action shift-by-wire drive selector. The lifestyle off-roader is available with a wireless device charger and new USB ports in the rear of the cab. The electric SUV also gets connected services using the MyToyota app. This is also the first Hilux to be equipped with electric power steering.
For safety and security, the Hilux gets an extension of Toyota Safety Sense. It now has Low Speed Acceleration Suppression, Proactive Driving Assist and an Emergency Driving Stop System. Other key additions will include a Blind Spot Monitor, Safe Exit Assist and a Driver Monitor Camera.

The electric pickup is equipped with a 59.2kWh lithium-ion battery, and a dual-motor AWD set-up. The combined power output stands at 193bhp, and it is claimed to offer a driving range of over 300km in a single charge.
The electric SUV comes with front and rear eAxles providing permanent all-wheel drive, with 205Nm of torque generated at the front and 268.6Nm at the rear. The pre-homologtion data indicate approximately figures of 715kg for the payload, and 1,600kg for the towing capacity.
