Citroen India seems to be on roll with a slew of new model introductions planned in the coming months. Of these, the most recent and for the first time to be caught testing under camouflage is the upcoming C3X crossover sedan. The car was spied in the city of Bengaluru without any identifiable brand logos on the exterior but judging by the profile it has all the credentials of being a French make. We, therefore, take a closer look.
The leaked images as you can see shows only the front end and the side profile of the test mule. Up front, the headlight design looks very similar to the Citroen C3 and C3 Aircross units. As for the sides, it featured flap-type door handles like other India-spec Citroens. Towards the rear, one can witness a sloped roofline with a raked windscreen, clad in even more camouflage.
Since the vehicle has been spied for the first time, there are no details pertaining to its interior. Expect the Citroen C3X to offer a similar dashboard layout as the C3 Aircross. However, the colour scheme could vary in this case.
In terms of tech, the vehicle could offer features like a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a fully digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, different drive modes, connected car tech, a rear parking camera, ambient lighting, and more. In regards to safety, there will be 6 airbags, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and a tyre pressure monitoring system on board.
Citroen is expected to offer the C3X with two powertrain options. First will be a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine capable of delivering 110 bhp with 190 Nm of peak torque. A 6-speed manual transmission will be the only option out here. We further believe that the automaker may tweak this motor to produce more power. The second option could be the entry-level 1.2-litre N/A petrol unit that would produce a maximum power output of 82 bhp with 115 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Citroen C3X is expected to be launched in India by mid-late 2024, with prices starting from around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon introduction, it will rival the likes of the Hyundai Verna, Škoda Slavia, Honda City, VW Virtus, and the Maruti Ciaz.
