We informed you earlier that Kia will launch the new-gen Seltos and Syros EV in the Indian market in 2026. The Kia Syros EV has been snapped for the first time while charging. It will directly rival the likes of the Tata Nexon EV and the upcoming Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.

The heavily camouflaged Syros EV was spotted at a public DC fast charging station. Interestingly, the electric compact SUV comes with dual charging ports, placed on each side of the front fenders. In most of the EVs, the charging port is placed in the centre of the front bumper.
The spotted model was speculated to be the Kia EV2 compact electric SUV, that’s not the case. On a closer inspection, it is clear that the prototype is an electric derivative of the Kia Syros compact SUV. The SUV is equipped with aero-optimised alloy wheels and neon-coloured brake callipers along with disc brakes for all 4 wheels.

The overall shape of the Kia Syros EV appears largely identical to its ICE-powered model. The electric SUV gets LED lighting system, including LED headlamps, LED DRLs and LED tail-lamps. It also comes with flush-type door handles, shark fin antenna, boxy profile and large glass areas.
The new Kia Syros EV is likely to get several EV-specific design changes such as closed-off front grille, new colour scheme and new aero-optimised alloy wheels along with EV badging on the fenders and tailgate. The cabin is also likely to receive subtle EV specific changes such as tweaked instrument console and central touchscreen infotainment unit, and a revised steering wheel. The SUV is also likely to get a new centre console and new upholstery for seats and door panels.
The Kia Syros EV is likely to share the battery packs with the Carens Clavis EV, which comes with a 42kWh and a 51.4kWh battery pack options. The company could use the Inster EV’s battery to power the Syros EV. It is expected to offer a range of around 400km in the real-world conditions.
The new Kia Syros EV is most likely to arrive by mid-2026, around July-August 2025. It is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. The electric compact SUV will rival the likes of the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400 EV, MG Windsor EV and the upcoming Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.
