FADA (Federation of Automotive Dealers Associated) has released the Indian car retail sales for the month of April 2025. A total of 3,49,939 passenger vehicles were retailed last month, resulting in a marginal YoY sales growth of 1.55%. In the same month last year, 3,44,594 PVs were sold in the Indian market.
As usual, Maruti Suzuki stands tall at the top-position in car retail sales April 2025. The company sold a total of 1,38,021 passenger vehicles last month, reporting a marginal YoY decline of 0.83 percent. In the same month last year, MSIL retailed a total of 1,39,173 vehicles in the Indian market. As per the latest data, Maruti Suzuki accounts of 39.44% of total retail sales in April 2025.
The homegrown UV maker continues to impress with its latest breed of cars and their sales in the market. Mahindra manages to beat two heavy weights - Tata Motors and Hyundai to retain the 2nd place in retail sales April 2025. Mahindra sold a total of 48,405 SUVs last month as compared to 38,696 units in April 2024, reporting a massive YoY sales jump of 25.09%. Moreover, Mahindra has a market share of 13.83%.
The Korean automaker, Hyundai slips to 4th position as Tata Motors is marginally ahead in April 2025 retail sales. Tata sold 44,065 passenger vehicles last month, while Hyundai retailed 43,642 units. Tata Motors reported a YoY sales decline of 6.07 percent, while Hyundai sales declined by good 11.37%. Tata and Hyundai had retailed 46,915 and 49,243 units in April 2024, respectively.
Toyota retails the 5th position with 23,344 units retailed in April 2025, while Kia is at 6th place with 21,618 units sold. While Toyota reported a YoY sales growth of 15.70%, kia registered a YoY sales growth of 9.15%.
Skoda Auto VW India Pvt Ltd (SAVWIPL) retailed a total of 9,458 passenger cars in April 2025, reporting a YoY sales growth of 39.48%.
JSW MG Motor India sold a total of 4,871 units in April 2025 with a YoY sales growth of 14.16 percent
Honda registered a retail sales of 4,833 units, as its YoY sales declined by massive 22.70 percent.
Renault and Nissan grab 10th and 11th places with 2,830 units and 1,821 units sold, respectively, in April 2025. While Renault’s YoY sales declined by 29.88%, Nissan witnessed a YoY sales decline of 19.35%
Mercedes-Benz sold a total of 1,323 vehicles in April 2025, while BMW retailed 1,234 vehicles.
Force Motors and JLR reported a total sales of 832 units and 396 units, respectively. While Citroen retailed only 386 vehicles in April 2025.
Big news is that BYD sold 346 units in April 2025 with a YoY sales growth of 120.38%. It manages to beat Jeep which reported a total sales of 281 units and 29.04% YoY decline. Volvo sold 119 vehicles with a YoY sales decline of 19.59% in April 2025.
