The XEV 7e is the ev-iteration of the XUV700 SUV It is based on Mahindra’s Born-EV INGLO Platform The Mahindra XEV 7e will directly rival the upcoming Safari EV.
The much-awaited Mahindra XEV 7e seven-seater electric SUV will finally launch in the country in the second half of 2025. It is basically the production version of the Mahindra XUV.e8, which was unveiled in 2022-23. Positioned as a practical 7-seater electric SUV, the Mahindra XEV 7e is the EV-iteration of the XUV700 SUV on sale in the country.

The new Mahindra XEV 7e has already been caught testing multiple times on the Indian roads. The overall profile of the XEV 7e appears largely identical to the XUV 700; however, it has several EV-specific design changes. The SUV shares lot of design elements with the recently launched Mahindra XEV 9e. Its front fascia looks identical to that of the XEV 9e, which is a good thing. There are inverted L-shaped connected LED daytime running lamps and a split headlamp setup with main headlights placed on the lower bumper.
Both models differentiate hugely in terms of silhouette. The Mahindra XEV 7e comes with XUV700-like profile, while the XEV 9e is an SUV-Coupe with a sloping roofline. The SUV gets XEV 9e-like aero-optimized alloy wheels. Similar to the XUV700, the XEV 7e rear end comes with wraparound LED tail-lights. It comes with full LED lighting system including LED turn indicators mounted on the ORVMs.
The cabin layout of the Mahindra XEV 7e is hugely similar to the one offered in the Mahindra XEV 9e. It comes with dual-tone black and white interior scheme with contrasting piano black finish on the centre console. The layered dashboard is dominated by a triple screen setup comprising of a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch digital driver's display and a similarly sized co-passenger display.
Similar to the XEV 9e and BE 6, the XEV 7e gets a 2-spoke steering wheel that houses an illuminated 'infinity' logo. Not just layout, the SUV shares comfort and convenience features with the SUV-Coupe sibling. It comes with multi-zone climate control, a premium 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, powered front seats with memory function and ventilation, a Panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting and others.
The XEV 7e also comes with Auto Park feature, which uses 12 ultrasonic sensors to find the ideal parking spot and then parks itself. The car park itself remotely without driver on the seat. The electric SUV will come with 7 airbags, a 360-degree surround view camera, an electronic parking brake with auto hold and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The e-SUV will also come with Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) with five radars and one camera. The ADAS features include adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, auto high beam, lane assist and others.
The Mahindra XEV 7e will share the battery packs with the BE 6 and XEV 9e. The battery pack options are 59kWh and 79kWh with a rear-axle-mounted electric motor. The SUV should offer a claimed MIDC range of over 500km on a single charge. The smaller battery pack with a rear-mounted electric motor offers 231 PS and 380Nm, while the 79kWh battery with RWD setup offers 286PS and 380Nm. (It also gets a dual-motor AWD setup with bhp of power and Nm of torque. This model offers a certified range of km on a single charge).
The Mahindra XEV 7e is expected to be priced between Rs 20.9 lakh to Rs 30 lakh. It will rival the upcoming Tata Safari EV. Customers can also pick XEV 7e over XEV 9e due to its more practical cabin, which can seat up to 7 people.
