Maruti Suzuki has recently launched the Victoris mid-sized SUV, which is based on the Global-C platform. This platform also underpins the Grand Vitara and the Brezza. The Grand Vitara is criticised for its small boot space, but MSIL addressed this issue with the Victoris. Despite having similar dimensions, the Maruti Victoris has a large 439-litres of boot space compared to the Grand Vitara’s 373-litres.
In order to achieve increasing boot space, Maruti Suzuki has removed the standard spare wheel from the Victoris. Spare wheel is mandatory in a car, but carmakers can remove this only by equipping the car with a TPMS, tubeless tyres and a tire repair kit.

The Maruti Suzuki Victoris comes with a tire repair kit as standard, and the TPMS is available for the second base variant. This allows the brand to offer a bigger boot with the Victoris compared to the Grand Vitara. Keeping India’s diverse road conditions in mind, a full-sized spare wheel is highly important. Maruti Suzuki is offering a spare wheel as an optional accessory for buyers who prefer the traditional backup.
Another innovation is the underbody placement of the CNG tank in the Victoris S-CNG variant, which ensures a more practical 320-litres of boot space. It is expected that the Grand Vitara facelift will also receive an underbody CNG kit.
Maruti Suzuki Victoris has achieved a full 5-star crash test safety rating from both Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP. The SUV is packed with six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, hill hold assist, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, rear parking sensors, traction control and others as standard. The higher variants get LEVEL 2 ADAS and a 360-degree surround view camera.
