Spy shots have uncovered the exterior look of the upcoming MG Hector facelift ahead of its official unveiling in January 2023. The facelifted Hector was recently spotted without camouflage for the first time, giving us a clear look at all the design changes.
The updated MG Hector will feature a completely redesigned front-end with defined angles and sharp creases. The grille is much larger than before, stretching down to the bumper and features a diamond-pattern along with a chrome surround.
The split headlight unit is the same with LED DRLs merging with the grille, but the main headlight will get a pentagonal housing and black inserts replacing the chrome brackets. The central air intake will get chrome surround instead of the silver finish on the current model.
The side profile of the Hector facelift is expected to remain the same, even getting similar 18-inch alloy wheels. Moving to the rear, the SUV will feature a new taillight setup with a red strip connecting the lights at each end. The nameplate sits below the number plate on the test car while the rear bumper gets sharper creases.

The automaker has already revealed the interior of the updated Hector. It will get a redesigned dashboard with a 14-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system with integrated Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Hector will also get a new digital instrument cluster, i-Smart connected car tech and ADAS functionality.
Mechanically, the new Hector will remain unchanged. It will continue with two 1.5-litre turbo-petrol units, one with mild-hybrid assistance, and a third 2.0-litre turbodiesel unit. Transmission options are expected to be a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearboxes.
With the considerable number of new features, MG will price the upcoming Hector model at a premium over the current model. Expect the new model to be launched around Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model will go on sale alongside the existing model in the company’s portfolio. The 2023 Hector will compete with the likes of the Tata Harrier, Kia Seltos, and the Mahindra XUV700.
