Buoyed by positive response for the new Syros SUV, Kia is now ready to launch 3 new cars in the Indian market in 2025. The company will introduce the Carens facelift and an all-new mass-market electric MPV in the country this year. Adding to it, the next-gen Kia Seltos has already been spotted testing in India as well as in Korea. Let's talk about these models in detail!
First launched in 2022, the Kia Carens has been one of the top-selling UVs for the Korean brand in India - clocking over 5000 sales on monthly basis. The company will introduce a heavily revised model this year, which will be sold alongside the existing model. The Kia Carens facelift will come with refreshed exterior with new bumpers, revised LED DRLs and headlamps, and redesigned alloy wheels.
The cabin is expected to receive major updates. It is likely to get a new dashboard layout and redesigned centre console. The MPV will have a larger touchscreen infotainment unit and instrument console, which is likely to be sourced from new Syros. It could also get a new colour scheme, new seat upholstery and new steering wheel.
The Carens facelift is likely to get a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch digital instrument console, ventilated front and second-row seats, a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree surround view camera, Level 2 ADAS, etc. The new MPV will continue to be offered with the existing engine line-up including a 113bhp, 1.5L NA petrol, a 157bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol and a 114bhp, 1.5L turbo diesel.
The Carens EV will be based on the same platform as its ICE counterpart. It will share the body shell, design elements and features with the Carens. Likely to carry a new nameplate, the electric RV will retain the overall profile. However, the MPV will have a different front fascia with a closed-off grille and new headlamp setup which we have already seen in the EV9. The rear is also likely to get some changes in the form of new tail-lights and bumper.
The Carens EV will receive a different suspension setup compared to the ICE-powered model. It is likely to be fitted with the 42kWh battery pack with a single 135bhp, electric motor, which is offered with the Hyundai Creta Electric. It is likely to offer a certified range of around 400km, and a realistic range of around 300-350km.
The next-gen Kia Seltos SUV will come with massive changes in terms of styling, interior and mechanics. The SUV has already been caught testing on the Indian roads as well as in Korea. It is likely to be launched in the country towards the end of this year. The spy images reveal that the SUV will receive completely revised front fascia with a new grille, revised front bumper, new headlamp setup that houses three vertically placed rectangular lamps, and new vertical LED DRL strip. The SUV will have new tail-lamps and new alloys.
The cabin will receive major changes. It will have a layered dashboard with extensive use of soft-touch plastic and leatherette finish. The SUV will come with Carnival-like dual-screen setup for infotainment and driver's display, two spoke steering wheel, HUD, electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation function, panoramic sunroof and others.
The new Seltos is rumoured to be equipped with a hybrid powertrain. It is likely to get a 141bhp, 1.6L hybrid powertrain with an AWD setup. The SUV will also get the existing engine options including a 1.5L NA petrol, 1.5L turbo diesel and a 1.5L turbo petrol.
