New Mahindra ATV Based on Thar-Roxx Revealed for Special Forces

New Thar-Roxx based Mahindra ATV revealed by Anand Mahindra Specially designed for security forces Ready for airdrop and mission grade protection

It is no secret that Mahindra is regularly providing purpose-built vehicles to our special forces. Mahindra Armado is one such vehicle, which is widely used by Indian armed forces. Now, Mahindra Group’s Chairman, Anand Mahindra, has showcased an all-new purpose-built vehicle, Mahindra All-terrain vehicle (ATV), which is based on the Mahindra Thar Roxx

The new All-Terrain vehicle is specially designed for our security forces, and is ready for airdrop and mission-grade protection. It gets gun mount, completely underbody protection and tandem tyre carrier configuration.  The ATV is packed with jerrycan holders, a windshield protector and a front winch ensuring enhanced survivability. It

The front fascia of the new Mahindra ATV looks similar to that of the Thar Roxx, featuring a large windshield, 7-slat Mahindra’s signature grille and round-shaped headlamps with C-shaped LED daytime running lamps. Mahindra engineers have added a couple of auxiliary lights on the revised front bumper to improve its readiness in the off-road conditions.

New Mahindra ATV Design

The Mahindra ATV comes with a roll cage instead of door panels and roof. The roll cage suits the nature of the purpose-built vehicle. Instead of stock tyres, the ATV gets all-terrain tyres along with side steps. At the back, it gets a half-sideway opening tailgate with a spare wheel. It gets the same vertically-stacked tail-lights, while the lower bumper has a winch and two hooks.

Mahindra has not revealed the engine specifications of the new ATV. We expect the specialised vehicle could either get the 2.0L turbo petrol or a 2.2L diesel engine. While the former produces 177PS and 380Nm, the oil burner is good for 175PS and 400Nm. The 4WD setup is expected to be offered as standard.
