The fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire recently went on sale in India at an introductory price of Rs 6.79 lakh. The compact sedan has received significant improvements in design, interior, features, and powertrain. The new Maruti Dzire model lineup comes in four trims – LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+ – and three engine-gearbox combinations: petrol-manual, petrol-AMT, and CNG-manual. It’s been less than a month since its market arrival, and the model has already gathered 30,000 bookings since 11th November. The carmaker says that nearly 1,000 Dzires are being booked per day.
Over 50 percent of the total bookings are for the fully-equipped ZXi+ and ZXi variants. In December 2024, the new Dzire ZXi and ZXi+ variants command a waiting period of around two months. The AMT-equipped top trims are observing a waiting period of less than three months, while the CNG version can be had in nearly three months (depending on inventory). Deliveries of the base LXi and mid-level VXi variants will be made within a few weeks, as both trims are less in demand.
Interestingly, most Dzire buyers are opting for its top-end ZXi trim, which costs between Rs 8.89 lakh (petrol-MT) and Rs 10.14 lakh (petrol-AMT). On the features front, the ZXi trim offers connected car tech, 6 speakers (including two tweeters), auto AC, a wireless phone charger, push-button start/stop, key-operated boot opening, silver trim and faux wood inserts on the dashboard, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a reverse parking camera, chrome window garnish, 15-inch monotone alloy wheels, auto LED headlamps, and LED DRLs.
With the ZXi+ trim, you get additional features such as an Arkamys sound system, a single-pane sunroof, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a leatherette-wrapped steering wheel, a coloured MID on the instrument console, auto-fold wing mirrors when locking the car, a 360-degree camera, cruise control, front footwell illumination, LED front fog lamps, and 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
Mechanically, the new Maruti Dzire is powered by the 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z12E petrol engine, borrowed from the Swift. This motor delivers 82bhp and 112Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. When running on CNG, the engine generates a maximum power of 69.75bhp and 101.8Nm of torque.
The major highlight of the new Maruti Dzire is its impressive 5-star safety rating in Global NCAP crash tests. The compact sedan achieved a five-star rating in adult occupant protection and a four-star rating for child occupant protection. The new Dzire is the first Maruti Suzuki model to achieve a full 5-star safety rating in Global NCAP tests. The standard safety kit of the tested model included six airbags, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, electronic stability program, Isofix mounts, and three-point seat belts for all seats.
