Mahindra has been planning to launch the long-awaited electric 7-seater SUV - the XEV 7e in India by second half of 2025. This will be an electric version of much-in-demand Mahindra XUV 700, carrying with it the design that looks both practical as well as perfect for a family. The expected range for this new XEV 7e model will range from Rs. 20 lakh and up to Rs. 30 lakh. The XEV 7e will compete against the Tata Safari EV and the vehicle will offer more space on the 7-seater setup against the XEV 9e, coupe-like design offering less space on seating. In other words, the XEV 7e will be even more suitable for big families.
The Mahindra XEV 7e has borrowed lots of its designs from the recently launched XUV700, and there are very few changes EV-specific. However, the look of the SUV at the front is quite like the recently unveiled Mahindra XEV 9e's with inverted L-shaped connected LED daytime running lamps and a split headlamp set-up. The XEV 7e has a more traditional SUV profile, while the XEV 9e is more about a coupe like sloping roofline.
External attributes of the XEV 7e come with full LED lights along with turn indicators that are mounted on the ORVMs; aero-optimized alloy wheels adorn the SUV's body. The vehicle at the rear has wrap-around LED tail-lights, thus giving it a perfect modern appeal.
The cabin of Mahindra XEV 7e is just like its sibling XEV 9e but with dual-tone black and white interior. Triple screen set-up is comprised of a 12.3 inches to 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, and a 12.3- inch digital driver's display, similar to the co-passenger display.
The XEV 7e has an illuminated 'infinity' logo 2-spoke steering wheel. The interior is well-laid out for comfort with the likes of a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, front ventilated seats with power adjustments, panoramic sunroof, and ambient lighting. Also included would be the Auto Park feature for easy ultrasonic sensors automatic parking.
The Mahindra XEV 7e will sport relatively premium safety fitments - seven airbags, a 360-degree surround view camera, electronic parking brake with auto hold, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Level 2 ADAS will be supported by five radars and one camera. These ADAS functionalities include adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane assist, and auto high beam.
The XEV 7e will share its battery packs with the Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e. Choices for the customers would be 59kWh or 79kWh for the battery. The electric motor will be mounted at the rear axle, giving a range of more than 500km from a single charge. There smaller one provides 227.84 bhp and 380 Nm, and the bigger battery gives 282.08 bhp and 380 Nm.
