Skoda kick started 2025 with a major announcement of its plan to bring back the diesel powertrain, years after the VW Group discontinued all of its diesel engines. The Skoda Octavia RS with diesel engine is set to hit Indian roads in September 2025 as a fully import unit. This performance sedan will be offered with a 2.0L, 4-cylinder engine, pushing out a maximum power of 150 bhp between 3,500 rpm – 4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 340 Nm at 1,750 rpm – 3,000 rpm.
This diesel engine has been benefited with the variable geometry turbocharger and common rail direct injection. It comes with the FWD (front-wheel drive) system. Skoda’s 2.0L diesel engine does 0 to 100 kmph in 8.4 seconds with DSG and 8.6 seconds with manual gearbox. It is capable to attaining a top speed of 220 kmph (DSG) and 215 kmph (MT). The same powertrain is available on the UK-spec Octavia RS.
The Skoda Octavia RS features independent McPherson strut with coil springs & stabilizer bar along with a multi-link independent suspension with stabilizer bar at the rear. Braking power comes from the ventilated front and solid rear disc brakes. The overall length, width and height of the performance sedan stand at 4,670 mm, 1,814 mm and 1,461 mm, respectively. It has a wheelbase of 2,686 mm and a ground clearance of 141 mm (unladen). The Octavia RS provides a boot space of 590 -litres, which can be expanded up to 1,580-lites with rear seats folded.
