The all-new Duster will have Bigster-inspired design and underpin new CMF-B platform. The SUV will offer a 10.1-inch touchscreen, ADAS, wireless charging & more features. It could be offered with the turbo petrol, strong hybrid and AWD capabilities. In India, the new Duster will rival Creta, Seltos, Grand Vitara & other midsize SUVs.
The third-generation Renault Duster has already been unveiled for the global markets, featuring significant design changes, feature upgrades and mechanical changes. The French automaker has confirmed that the all-new Duster SUV will make its way to India, sometime in 2026. In the crowded midsize SUV segment, this new Renault SUV will face challenge from the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun and Citroen C3 Aircross. Here are five facts to know about the new Renault Duster.
The new-gen Duster is built on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s modular CMF-B platform, which is said to be more advanced than the original Duster’s M0 architecture. The CMF-B is a heavily localized platform, which will help the carmaker achieve competitive pricing.
This new Renault SUV derives its design inspiration from the Dacia Bigster concept, while retaining its OG boxy stance. Up front, it features a newly-designed grille complemented by new headlamps with Y-shaped LED DRLs, a ‘Renault’ badge spreading across the grille, a large air dam with round-ish fog lamps. Moving to its side profile, the SUV has squared wheel arches with dual-tone alloy wheels, bold cladding and roof rails. Interestingly, the new Renault Duster has the C-pillar mounted rear door handles. At the rear, similar to the headlamp clusters, it has Y-shaped LED taillamps along with a sporty skid plate.
The new Renault Duster comes with a completely new and upmarket interior. The SUV now has a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, wireless phone charging, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, cruise control, a 6-speaker Arkamys 3D sound system, two USB-C ports, a 12V outlet for both the front and rear passengers and many more features.
Renault also enhanced its safety levels with the introduction of ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite, offering lane keep assist, auto emergency braking and several advanced safety features. However, it has yet to be confirmed whether the India-spec version will come with ADAS suite or not.
Renault is still evaluating several engines for the India-spec Duster including a 156 bhp, 1.3L turbo petrol, the Kiger’s 1.0L turbo petrol and a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol (for lower variants only). Rumours suggest that the carmaker might introduce the new Duster with a strong hybrid powertrain, which could feature a 94bhp, 1.6L petrol engine, a 49 bhp electric motor and a high voltage starter generator.
In select global markets, this SUV is also offered with a TCe 130 engine that consists of a 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine and a 48V mild hybrid system, delivering a combined power of 130 bhp. There are no diesel engine options, though some markets offer a petrol-LPG fuel option.
The new Duster offers multiple terrain modes including Auto, Off-Road, Snow, Mud/Sand and Eco. The AWD version gets off-road screens and hill descent control as standard. The SUV’s AWD variant has a 31 degree approach, a 36 degree departure and 24 degree ramp breakover angles, along with a ground clearance of 217 mm.
