Tata has been testing the electric iteration of the Harrier SUV for a while now. Its test mule has appeared multiple times on roads since its concept avatar was showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. The latest sightings have given us a sneak peek of the new Tata Harrier EV such as the rear electric motor, indicating the presence of RWD setup. Let's talk about it more!
According to the fresh details, the new Harrier EV is expected to get a Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD) system as it was spotted with a rear electric motor. The ICE-powered model currently has an FWD system only, while the Harrier EV could get FWD as standard and RWD for 4WD variants. The electric SUV was also seen with the rear independent multi-link suspension setup, which means it will deliver a more sophisticated ride.
Tata Harrier EV will be based on brand's Acti.ev platform. This is an advanced connected tech intelligent electric vehicle platform, which is specially designed for Tata electric cars.
The Harrier EV could get a battery pack of 60-80 kWh capacity, which can offer a maximum range of 500 km on a single full charge. The brand has confirmed that the top-end variants of the e-SUV will support Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging.
Based on the spy shots, the production-spec Harrier EV looks similar to the ICE-powered model. However, expect some of the design changes such as EV-specific front grille and updated front bumper.
The interior of the Harrier EV will have a similar layout to that of its ICE counterpart. Some of the notable features could include a bigger touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof with voice control and mood lighting, a newly designed central console, an illuminated brand logo on the steering wheel, ventilated front seats, and an ADAS suite.
The Harrier EV SUV will be Tata's flagship electric car. The base variant of the electric SUV could hover around at Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom).
