Tata Motors has launched the ICE-powered Sierra lifestyle SUV at a starting price of Rs 11.49 lakh; however, full price list is yet to be revealed. On the other hand, Mahindra has launched the XEV 9S 7-seater electric SUV at Rs 19.69 lakh - Rs 29.45 lakh, ex-showroom. The Sierra will also receive an electric derivative, which has recently been teased in an official TVC. Our sources reveal that the Sierra EV will be launched in January 2026.
Similarly, Mahindra will give a mid-life update to its flagship ICE SUV, the XUV700 in the first half of January 2026. Moreover, the SUV is rumoured to be renamed as the Mahindra XUV 7XO, as the nameplate has already been patented. For people not in the know, Mahindra had earlier renamed the XUV300 facelift to XUV 3XO.
The production-spec Sierra EV looks largely identical to the ICE-powered model, featuring boxy design, upright stance and wraparound rear glass. It comes with a closed-off front fascia, flatter bumper and connected LED DRLs, and lower air vents. The SUV has high-set bonnet, short overhangs and flush-type door handles.
Its cabin looks similar to the new ICE-powered model, except for the new colour scheme. The SUV will have a triple screen dashboard layout; however, the lower variants will have dual-screen layout. Other Features will include an electric driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, a large panoramic sunroof, LEVEL 2 ADAS, 6 airbags, ESC, hill-launch and descent assist and others.
The Tata Sierra EV is likely to share the battery options with the Curvv EV and Harrier EV, including a 55kWh unit and a 65kWh unit, respectively. The SUV is also expected to get a dual-motor AWD setup.

Scheduled to be launched in early January 2026, the new Mahindra XUV 7XO will rival the Tata Safari. The SUV won’t receive any mechanical changes. It will continue to be offered with a 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol and a 2.2L turbo diesel. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The diesel automatic will continue to be offered with both FWD and all-wheel-drive option.
It is expected that the XUV 7XO will share styling elements with the new XEV 9S. The SUV is expected to get a reworked front grille, new bumper and new headlamp setup. Other design changes could include new rear bumper, newly designed alloys and an updated tail-light.
The cabin will receive maximum changes, as it will have a new dashboard layout similar to the Mahindra XEV 9S. The SUV will come with a triple screen dashboardcomprising a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch co-entertainment screen and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. In terms of features, the SUV will have Harman/Kardon speakers with Dolby Atmos, auto-dimming IRVM, front parking sensors, an updated LEVEL 2+ ADAS, and others.
