Tata Sierra EV launching in Q2 FY27 To rival Mahindra BE 6 and Creta Electric

The long-awaited Tata Sierra EV will finally launch in the country in the second quarter of FY27, between July and September, 2026. This will be the brand’s most important electric vehicle, as it will directly rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Mahindra BE 6 and VinFast VF6.

Tata Sierra EV Key Specifications

The new Tata Sierra EV will be built on the same architecture, acti.ev, that underpins the Tata Curvv EV and Punch EV. This platform is claimed to offer superior space management and large battery capacities. To be positioned as a premium lifestyle electric SUV, the Tata Sierra EV will sit between the Tata Curvv EV and the flagship Harrier EV. It is expected to be offered with two battery choices, including 55kWh from Curvv EV and 65kWh from Tata Harrier EV.

The electric SUV could offer an ARAI certified fuel economy of around 540km - 600km, and a realistic range of around 400-450km. While the lower-spec model will be front-wheel-drive, the higher-spec model will come with a dual-motor AWD layout. The electric SUV will support up to 100 kW DC fast charging. The Sierra EV will come with LEVEL 2+ ADAS, V2L, V2V charging and a 360-degree surround view camera.

Sierra EV Key Details

The production version of the Sierra EV will remain true to the concepts showcased at previous Auto Expos. It will retain the signature wraparound rear glass of the original 90s Sierra, offering massive glass area that makes the cabin feel incredibly airy. It will have full LED lighting system, and boxy, upright silhouette and high ground clearance. Similar to the Sierra ICE, the electric Sierra will have triple screen setup comprising a dedicated 12.3-inch central screen, a 12.3-inch co-occupant entertainment screen and a 10-inch digital driver’s display.

The SUV will be packed with high-end comfort and convenience features such as panoramic sunroof, auto-dimming IRVM, powered front seats with ventilation, electronic parking brake with auto hold and others.
