Tata Sierra SUV was the major highlight of Tata’s pavilion at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. The showcased model was the close-to-production, painted in a bring yellow colour. The carmaker has confirmed that the final version of the SUV will go on sale in the second half of 2025 (possibly by November). The new Sierra will be offered with multiple powertrain options including petrol, diesel and electric.
The carmaker hasn’t yet revealed the exact specifications. However, the SUV’s ICE-powered model is likely to come with the 1.5L turbocharged petrol and 2.0L diesel engine options. The direct injection petrol engine pushes out a maximum power of 170bh at 5,000rpm and 280Nm of torque between 2,000rpm and 3,500rpm. The diesel motor, which is borrowed from the Harrier and Safari, is good enough for 170bhp and 350Nm. Transmission choices will include manual and automatic units.
The higher trims of the Sierra could get the AWD (all-wheel drive) system as an option. If it happens, the Tata Sierra ICE will be the brand’s first 4X4 ICE SUV since the Safari Strome, which was phased out in 2020. The Sierra EV is expected to come with multiple battery options, ranging from 60kWh to 80kWh. Both single and dual motor setup might also be on offer. The AWD system is likely to be reserved for the dual-motor variants. Its range is expected to around 500km.
The Tata Sierra (ICE) will be built on the all-new Adaptive Tech Forward Lifestyle (ATLAS) platform, supporting multiple body styles and 4X4 capabilities. The EVs based on this new architecture will have high ground clearance and large wheel sizes. The electric Sierra will underpin the Acti.ev architecture (Tata’s Gen2 EV), which is also used in the Curvv EV and Punch EV.
The showcased SUV has three screens setup – central and passenger side touchscreen infotainment and a digital instrument cluster. Similar to the Harrier and Safari, the new Sierra has a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated ‘Tata’ logo. The feature list is also expected to include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, wireless phone charger, a panoramic sunroof, a premium audio system, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, six airbags, electronic stability control, 360 degree cameras and Level 2 ADAS tech.
As mentioned above, the model on the display was close-to-production. Both the electric and ICE version share a strong resemblance. However, the Sierra EV has slightly different front grille and alloy wheels. Design elements such as the raised bonnet, pronounced squarish wheel arches and the signature curved-over rear side windows are retained from the OG Sierra.
